OT: Coronavirus
Wow....
Yeah, DIA is never that empty. My goodness, this thing has really gotten ahold of people. But I suspect that it's going to make a far bigger dent in the global economy than the global population.
What changes have you made? Personally, I have tickets to fly to San Francisco with my kids to see my brother in a couple of weeks. And, so far anyway, I plan to go. But I have to say I'm a little nervous about it, especially with my kids. Not as much about the virus as how people are panicking about it. A flight yesterday was rerouted to Denver because someone, um...sneezed. And I am narrowing in on some ridiculously priced tickets to Cancun in May. Am I crazy?

$7.69 is the average hourly pay for a Papa Johns Delivery rep...https://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Delivery_Driver/Hourly_Rate/16dfa245/Papa-Johns-Pizza
Below the poverty line. I dont know how you live on that.
Maybe as a supplemental income.
Do you tip your delivery driver? I would think they can likely get at least 2 deliveries an hour and I would like to think at least a $5 tip so that pushes the wage to closer to $18 an hour and those tips rarely get reported so basically they are tax free income.
From the MN Department of Health website, 3,038 tests have been conducted. There are 89 cases in 19 counties.

I saw those numbers about 2 minutes ago and texted my co worker back to see why his text made things sound more alarming. Certainly a very concerning virus, but not as bad over there as he made it sound.

How is this supposed to help stop the spread of the disease?I work for one of the retailers that is open across the country (except in a couple of places where we are not classified as essential). I was grounded from travel some time ago and am working from home like all of the rest of the corporate office.
Store hours are reduced now but that allows more time for the employees to thoroughly clean the store. And we are encouraging customers to shop online for home delivery or curbside pick up. If a customer enters the store (starting next week), they will be escorted by an employee at a safe distance. There will be fewer employees in the store but they are all being paid, even if they choose not to work.
My entire week has been spent on store closings, responding to locations with employees who tested positive, rescheduling projects, trying to get supplies to stores, etc. I've been with this company for many years, and this has been the most intense days experienced.

Keep doing what you are doing. Always positive

I regret that I have but one life to give for your pork chop :pI work in heavy truck parts, including some emergency vehicles...so, we're considered support for critical services.

@"StickyBun" said:That was my first thought, I parked a bunch of cash in my EJ account to be ready to pounce when the market is ready, I hope that isnt my biggest holding by the time this thing turns around. I dont think wall street has the stomach for wall street anymore. I really feel sorry for those that are only a few years off from retirement and should have moved off the stocks and funds for safer markets but were enjoying the ride a little to long. I am sure a lot of them took a monster haircut that will affect their quality of living until they are gone.@"BarrNone55" said:The market is not going to like this development.@"StickyBun" said: California has gone shelter in place. 40 million people. And to what level it rebounds will remain to be seen. The drop was so quick and dramatic most people haven't changed anything. Very bad news for those wanting to retire this year or the next 2 for sure.@"StickyBun" said:That was my first thought, I parked a bunch of cash in my EJ account to be ready to pounce when the market is ready, I hope that isnt my biggest holding by the time this thing turns around. @"StickyBun" said:I am fully expecting 5 years+ to see my account back to where it was a month or so ago, minus any new investments and their returns, but i am young enough that I think with an aggressive approach the next few months and years could really set me up nicely for retirement. There should be some real bargains come out of this as well as some new possibilities that are driven by societal changes that create new opportunities. Scary but exciting times.@"JimmyinSD" said:Some people are going to have to put off retirement because of this. Zero doubt about it. It will rebound but its going to take time. Virtual meeting with financial planner in the next couple of weeks. We'll see and roll from there.

Do yourself a favor and don't look: it's horrible.

They do a decent amount of cooking from home for millennials anyway, so they'll be fine. They roll their own sushi, for crying out loud. He works remotely for his job and she just went full time remote on Monday.....

Same here, planning to put it off till September. I had a portion in cash, since 2016, my advisor had been giving me shit about. I said I was investing in plastics, PVC pipe and end-caps and had it sitting in the Savings and Loam.
