There goes JJ McCarthy - Giants

So is the Vikings staff saying that Kyler Murray or Carson Wentz is our future?

If so, that's pretty worrisome as Kyler has not looked good at all yet, but I know several of us have mentioned this concern early, and both he and Wentz are injury-prone and Kyler is not a KO-system QB and that means we will have to pay Murray next year to keep him. We most likely won't have a high draft pick, unless we tank.

We are 3-0. KO has stated that he believes our offense is just getting started. Well, I sure hope so, but I can tell you that he never once said that when McCarthy was playing last year. He was more like Zimmer and not supporting his QB despite the challenges.

This stinks of something...not very pleased with this one...

The other two QBs who've started games for us this season certainly haven't been "elevators". Maybe we can draft one next year and hear about how we won't fail the next young QB.

Can’t wait to see if the 3rd starting QB in 4 years we’ve kicked to the curb also balls out for another team.

I feel like JJ was never going to work out here. I wouldn’t have minded developing him this season and giving him a shot to compete next year, but the speed of the NFL was overwhelming him. He starred down WRs and couldn’t release fast enough. Not saying it couldn’t have slowed down for him eventually, but KOC didn’t have a season to throw away hoping he would eventually figure it out. Wish him the best, but I’m not losing sleep over this.

I dont think so, but they need to be in wait/see mode with K1 at wk3.

There is something going on behind the scenes that preceded this move imo. Something in addition to just lack of productivity from a #10 pick.

But I hate this move, and I would have hated it with a 3rd compensation too, let alone a 5th.

Suddenly, I am wondering about the GM after this.

I can see it now, we make the playoffs and have to trade a first round pick for a journeyman

They obviously don’t believe JJ is their future. I doubt the GM didn’t consult KOC before making this move, but I could be wrong.

The compensation is what it is. He was largely unavailable throughout his first 2 seasons and when he did play, he was statistically the worst QB in the league.

They tried to trade him after camp ended and had no takers. Circumstances arose however. Going from untradeable to a 5th isn't really the end of the world.

Max Brosmer is the only QB under contract for next year, BTW.

Can’t wait for the impending 3yr/$165 million contract extension for K1 because we’ve painted ourselves into a corner and we have no other choice. This team really has completely hitched their wagon to K1 for the foreseeable future

You can’t trade for a QB under duress next year and not get absolutely fleeced.

I'm HOPING we aren't done yet. This organization CAN'T be this shortsighted.
