  Update on my son
Posted by: Vikergirl - 10-11-2017, 10:28 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (6)

I know some people were asking for an update. We just got the results of his EEG and it was normal. So it looks like a medication induced seizure. Thanks again everyone for the prayers, positive thoughts and words of support and encouragement. I really appreciate more than you possibly know. I am so incredibly relieved right now.

So Mike, How do you stop Aaron Rogers?

How can Vikings stop Aaron Rodgers? ‘Don’t let him have the ball,’ Mike Zimmer says
Superlatives are in high demand again for Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers after his brilliant game-winning touchdown drive at Dallas on Sunday salvaged a pivotal road victory for the Packers.
Next stop: U.S. Bank Stadium.
“I’ve been in the league 20-some years and I can’t remember a guy that does the things this guy does,” Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Wednesday. “I think they should trade him.”
Defensive end Everson Griffen anointed Rodgers king of the alpha males for his ability to sidestep any pass rush.
“Aaron Rodgers is the toughest guy to be patient with; he’s the best quarterback, in my opinion,” Griffen said.
Vikings quarterback Case Keenum was just plain stumped when asked about the signal caller that has vexed Minnesota like no other.
“There are no words that can describe the kind of plays that he can make,” Keenum said with a shrug.
Powerful, elusive and coy, Rodgers can beat teams with his arm, legs and brain. He buys time in the pocket to toy with defenders, becomes a gunslinger on the run, can practically throw a ball out of a stadium and is lethal with the game on the line.

Which QB should start against Green Bay?
Posted by: BlackMagic7 - 10-11-2017, 07:16 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (24)

I'm tired of the expert hindsight. Lets talk about next week.

Who's starting at QB? Who is taking reps each day up to gameday, and who gets the nod?

Bradford if he practices all week? Bradford on limited reps taking care of the knee? Keenum, if Bradford is limited? ... ignore Bradford while he recovers some more and roll with Keenum?

A lot of experts on how it should have been handled last week; crickets on how it should be handled this week...

  VELSPAR WEEK 6
Posted by: PapaScott - 10-11-2017, 03:31 PM - Forum: The Longship - No Replies

It’s strength against strength this week as the Green Bay Packers come to town with their potent offense (even without the aid of the men in stripes) facing the Vikings stout Defense.  Ahh crap who am I kidding.  That prick wearing green and yellow has a penchant for drawing free plays and tossing off… ah tossing passes and drawing PI penalties.  I hate that team and have been spruned by most if not all Packer fans I know.  The peckers are coming of a late comeback win in Dallas and sit alone atop the NFC NORTH.  The Vikings are coming off a victory as well in a house of horrors for them since ohh forever.  The Viking snake bitten team whose year is resembling last year when the starting QB and RB both went down with season ending injuries. The Packers are favored in this one, but last year the Vikings defeated the Packers in the Stadium opener  sacking rodgers five times and forcing two turnovers making the Vikings undefeated vs the Pack at US Bank Stadium.   How do the Vikings win this game?  Keep Rodgers either off the field with long drives (pound the ball with Jerrick and Latavius) or Keep Rodgers ON the field literally with Everson, Danielle, linval and Brian who sacked Aaron 5 times last year at USB or it’s up to Tre who will be tested and tested and tested if the D-line can’t get to Rodgers.

It’s a battle for 1st in the NORTH and Week 6 of Velspar is here.

  Bradford's "unloader brace"
Posted by: TBro - 10-11-2017, 03:19 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (40)

Bradford was wearing what Sugarman said was an “unloader brace” on his left knee that “unloads the part of the knee joint that has the stress, that’s why he wears the knee brace.”

Does this really sound like someone who was ready to play? He needed to wear a brace to reduce the weight load in his knee joint. He had a noticeable limp which may be from his injury, or could have been caused by the restricted movement of the knee brace itself to protect the joint. Either way, just another headscratching move by this staff who thought an immobile QB when healthy could be effective with his injury and a restrictive brace.

Goessling: Good reasons for Vikings not to rush into qb decision
Posted by: purplefaithful - 10-11-2017, 11:50 AM - Forum: The Longship - No Replies

All of the uncertainty about the health of quarterbacks Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater means that long-term decisions about the Vikings' future at those positions are hardly cut-and-dried.
Sugarman said Tuesday that Bradford’s previous surgeries are “certainly a contributing factor” to his current issues, adding that “anyone that’s had two ACLs is probably at risk” for arthritis in the future. It means that while Bradford can avoid a protracted post-surgical rehab, he also is theoretically at risk of a flare-up any time he gets his knee in an awkward position, as Sugarman said he did in Week 1. There’s no quick (or permanent) fix, in other words, and knees generally don’t get stronger as people age.
Bradford started 29 of his teams’ next 32 games after his second ACL surgery — and one of the games he missed was the Vikings’ 2016 season opener, which came just eight days after they acquired Bradford. But his issues now could be the kind of thing that crop up in the future, and the Vikings will have to ask themselves how much they want to commit to a player that might not be available for a handful of games at any given time.
Then there’s the question of Teddy Bridgewater, who will be re-evaluated by Dr. Dan Cooper (the surgeon that performed his knee operation) next week and could return to practice shortly thereafter. The mere fact of Bridgewater returning to practice doesn’t necessarily mean the Vikings will activate him from the physically-unable-to-perform list; they have three weeks to make that decision once Bridgewater starts practicing. But if the 24-year-old is healthy enough to return this season, Bradford’s issues make it more feasible Bridgewater could get a chance to show why he should regain his job.
There are plenty of unanswered (and for now, possibly unanswerable) questions about Bridgewater’s long-term health, too, and it’s possible the right course of action for the Vikings is a quarterback with no history of knee issues, rather than one with two ACL operations and one with a knee dislocation in his past. ...
