OT: Coronavirus
Wow....
Yeah, DIA is never that empty. My goodness, this thing has really gotten ahold of people. But I suspect that it's going to make a far bigger dent in the global economy than the global population.
What changes have you made? Personally, I have tickets to fly to San Francisco with my kids to see my brother in a couple of weeks. And, so far anyway, I plan to go. But I have to say I'm a little nervous about it, especially with my kids. Not as much about the virus as how people are panicking about it. A flight yesterday was rerouted to Denver because someone, um...sneezed. And I am narrowing in on some ridiculously priced tickets to Cancun in May. Am I crazy?

Each Virus is different this is not MERS or it would have been able to be treated like MERS. Not to state the obvious or anything.
An Infectious disease expert "corrects" some statements about a Pandemic from a real estate developer and the attempt now is to throw the expert under the bus.
The obvious is he touted it for a similar virus before testing was complete.
He should have admitted that this drug has been successful for past coronavirus diseases.
He can be cautious ... and also push for this drug to be used.
Weird. We should deny terminally ill patients drugs that worked on similar viruses and have huge success rates with this one.
Also of note - pneumonia and flu deaths are way down. Apparently people that die with those diseases are being included in coronavirus deaths.
Similar is not the same, take it you don't have a background in medicine or biology.
Hahaha
The fucking drug works! Italy, China and Spain use it.
We now use it.
Now most doctors use it. Unless their governors disallow it.
Science goes out the window with the terminally ill.
Tell me when the successes are enough from you to accept the use.
I bet you would request it if you are in the hospital with it!
I believe the Surgeon General said something (very recently) to the effect of he'd be comfortable using some of these medications for the terminally ill.
Thats far from an endorsement of anything for the masses. Not without scientific based evidence the positive effect outweighs any potential negative.
Are our best medical minds watching France, China and Italy - and still reaching that conclusion as of today? That seems to be the case.
Wasn't it back in Gerald Ford's era that they put therapeutics out there and it was a disaster? Was it H1n1? Swine Flu? I dont recall. But too many people were dying, they pulled it and then of course you had the subsequent lawsuits.

France already showed 100% success rates for the drugs when Trump praised it.
The drug has been approved already by FDA and assessed as low risk.
China, France, Italy, Spain, and the US use this drug successfully.
"We liberate people who go back to work because we know that they're not in a vulnerable category and they're negative," he said. "That is going to be the answer, I believe."

You're leaving out an important element - a biggie.Where's the proof the FDA assessed it as low risk for Covid-19 for use for mass population? Maybe that's coming, and that would be wonderful. But I haven't seen it yet.
Political ideologies aside, we're all hoping and waiting for the same thing.

Deaths over past few days dropping "for the first time" in New York, governor says
The significance of that is “too early to tell” he added.
Cuomo added that ICU admissions are also down, daily intubations are down “slightly” and the hospital discharge rate is way up” and that’s “great news.”
He said there is a "shift to Long Island" adding "upstate New York is basically flat… as Long Island grows the percentage of cases in NYC has reduced."
The total number of intubations are down across the state, Cuomo said.
As of April 4, there were about 316 people intubated in the hospital, that number is down from 351 reported the day before.

I don’t know the role of the FDA in doing that. When it was approved for use for malaria and lupus, it was designated as low risk.Currently iirc, 18% of all drugs are used for purposes not what they were originally designed for. I heard a doctor say doctors are allowed to prescribe any drug approved by FDA as they medically see fit.
Finally - the FDA did approve this drug for use as compassionate care. Fauci said he would take the drug if he got the disease.
We all agree that we want this nightmare to be over.
I just hate seeing politics getting in the way.

WTF are you saying, is this what you are referring to.

Nice to other States being United and helping New York! Yes even Mass/Kraft/Patriots :)
Washington will return more than 400 of the 500 ventilators it recently received from the federal government, so they can go to New York and other states harder hit by the coronavirus crisis, Gov. Jay Inslee said Sunday.
After requesting 1,000 ventilators from the Strategic National Stockpile, Washington last month received 500.
The National Stockpile ventilators are not suitable for treating COVID-19 patients, state officials said. That’s because those individuals generally need a higher amount of pressure support into their lungs than the ventilators from the national stockpile can provide, said Jessica Baggett, a spokeswoman for the state’s Joint Information Center.
The stockpile ventilators, though, can be used for other patients, freeing up more COVID-19 compatible ventilators to help with the crisis.
The decision to return the ventilators comes five weeks after the first coronavirus death in Washington, when Inslee declared a state of emergency. It offers a glimmer of hope that the drastic steps the state has taken since then — shutting down schools and nonessential businesses and grinding daily life to a halt — have helped forestall the bleakest possible outcomes.

Apparently Trump’s friends ... Kraft and the owner of the Brooklyn Nets ... stepped up.
Some of the owners are paying all of
their workers.
And baseball announced players will receive their checks. I have seen several who are donating their checks to help.
Pretty cool how some of these people are helping.
On twitter I saw Sharyl Attkinson gave away 1,000 to the first 100 people that emailed her. Great idea - cool if it went viral.

At the bold... I could not help notice. Some can't make a post without tying it to the "almighty" Trump. I wonder how the bold is related to the gesture. I bet in some twisted reasoning baked in someone's brain Kraft and co are doing it because of their "friendship" with Trump. The post is even qualified with the word "apparently".
Trump when asked mentioned he talked to two friends who were stepping forward to help NY. He wouldn’t mention it further and let it come out days later.
I am sorry this has harmed you. You will be ok.
Now tell me were Hollyweird is on this. Other than the douchebags outting down Trump like Milano, Kathy Griffen et al.
Hahaha ilovebigtds disliked my post about people stepping up. Apparenly we only cheer when the left does it. Weird.
Another sports owner - not Trump’s friend - also stepped up and is paying all workers. Good guy.
Some reporter suggested to Trump that he shutdown all businesses, including grocery stores.
Brilliant.
