OT: Coronavirus
Wow....
Yeah, DIA is never that empty. My goodness, this thing has really gotten ahold of people. But I suspect that it's going to make a far bigger dent in the global economy than the global population.
What changes have you made? Personally, I have tickets to fly to San Francisco with my kids to see my brother in a couple of weeks. And, so far anyway, I plan to go. But I have to say I'm a little nervous about it, especially with my kids. Not as much about the virus as how people are panicking about it. A flight yesterday was rerouted to Denver because someone, um...sneezed. And I am narrowing in on some ridiculously priced tickets to Cancun in May. Am I crazy?

Went there to have an Arterial Vein Malformation (AVM) on my brain surgically obliterated. 11 hours of surgery, incision from ear to ear. That was back in 2008.
I'm lucky it was found in time to do something. More often than not they burst, you've then got a Brain Aneurysm on your hands, and chances are very high you're a gonner.
Always grateful to the genius angels @ Mayo.

About 90 minutes from home...We were swirling about a long term Cyberknife laser approach vs surgery...I'll never forget their head of neurology telling me in his office what the hell am I waiting for? I needed surgery yesterday.
Sometimes you meet someone who you are comfortable putting your life in their hands. That neurosurgeon was that guy for me.

Even my kids were captivated by it. All of his docs are like that.@"StickyBun" said: Do yourself a favor: watch the PBS documentary on the Mayo Clinic, came out a few years ago. Its amazing. My cousin used to work for the mayo, for lack of a better word he was the concierge, we weren't very close but a few of the stories of the people he dealt with were pretty damn amazing. It was his job to make sure the VIPs and their families were taken care of while there. Once again....where was my HS guidance counselor on that one?
NY governor says China is donating 1,000 ventilators to the state
The Chinese government has facilitated a donation of 1,000 ventilators that are expected to arrive at JFK Airport today, Cuomo said moments ago during a press conference.
"This is a big deal and it's going to make a significant difference for us. Also, the state of Oregon contacted us and is going to send 140 ventilators," Cuomo added. "Which is I can tell you just astonishing and unexpected. And I want to thank Gov. Brown, I want to thank all of the people in the state of Oregon for their thoughtfulness."
A guy I knew growing up lost his cousin last weekend and his dad just died last night, both from the virus. They think the virus spread through the family as they gathered a month or so ago to visit Tom's mother who is recovering from surgery for breast cancer. Please keep the Glanzer family from Huron,SD in your prayers.

Surgeon General: This week will be like a 'Pearl Harbor' and '9/11' moment
The US surgeon general said this week is going to be the "hardest and the saddest" for "most Americans' lives," describing the upcoming grim period of the coronavirus pandemic in the United States as a "Pearl Harbor moment" and a "9/11 moment."
"I want Americans to understand that as hard as this week is going to be, there is a light at the end of the tunnel," Vice Admiral Jerome Adams said on "Fox News Sunday."
Officials are warning the next two weeks will be crucial in the fight to stop the spread of the virus. Early Sunday, the nationwide death toll had gone up to at least 8,503 people, with at least 312,245 infected, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University
