Wow....

Yeah, DIA is never that empty. My goodness, this thing has really gotten ahold of people. But I suspect that it's going to make a far bigger dent in the global economy than the global population.

What changes have you made? Personally, I have tickets to fly to San Francisco with my kids to see my brother in a couple of weeks. And, so far anyway, I plan to go. But I have to say I'm a little nervous about it, especially with my kids. Not as much about the virus as how people are panicking about it. A flight yesterday was rerouted to Denver because someone, um...sneezed. And I am narrowing in on some ridiculously priced tickets to Cancun in May. Am I crazy?

Nerve wracking here in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

My longterm girlfriend works at the hospital here, she pulls double shifts and just left for her 19th consecutive day at work.  Her 2nd shift is to test and screen people for COVID-19.  I manage a retail store for a Fortune 200 company deemed essential operations so I am working 13-14 hr days 6 days a week while being exposed to the public, mostly painters, who aren’t exactly the poster children of hygiene to begin with.

Many, many people here think it’s overblown media hype, fake news, Democratic hoax intended to make Trump look bad.  I try to limit the number of people in my store but few listen.

We have sent her kids away to live with her ex-husband because she and I are so exposed to possible contact of infected people.

I am thankful to have a job and it pays well but everyday I know I’m rolling the dice with my health.

While I disagree with plenty of people on here with their political views, this pandemic transcends politics.  I hope everyone is staying safe and pray for a speedy recovery to Zanary and Havoc.

I do know there’s a tidal wave of hurt coming for a lot of us.  I’ve lived in several countries and been around a good portion of the globe, and one thing I will say is that there is one thing that inspires me about being an American:

There is no denying the strength of the American spirit.

We are a nation of ass-kicking badasses and our work ethic puts nearly everyone else to shame.

We recovered from 9/11, this too shall pass.

Stay safe everyone.

Been to Fayetteville many times in my travels to Bentonville calling on you know who...About a 1/2 hr away if I recall correctly.

I have a # of friends who work in ICU, Assisted Living etc and my wife has been deemed essential too. Difficult, tough times.

Stay well sir...I look forward to the day when this is behind us. Sitting in USB this fall with 63k others seems like a pipe-dream in March.

Yes sticky likely crossed the line and needs to refrain,  but Al's post is hardly political,  and I thought it was funny and sad at the same time. But not politically biased,  just dont want to get sick biased.

Fauci says Trump agreed not to invoke a strict quarantine after intensive White House discussions

(CNN) — Dr. Anthony Fauci said Sunday that President Donald Trump decided not to impose a strict quarantine on parts of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut after officials had "very intensive discussions" at the White House with the President last night.
Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said on CNN's "State of the Union" that it was important not to enforce something that would create "a bigger difficulty," and instead issue a travel advisory for the New York metro area. "After discussions with the President we made it clear and he agreed, it would be much better to do what's called a strong advisory. The reason for that is you don't want to get to the point that you're enforcing things that would create a bigger difficulty, morale and otherwise, when you could probably accomplish the same goal," Fauci told CNN's Jake Tapper.
Fauci said about 56% of the country's new infections are coming from the New York City area.
After the number of reported US coronavirus deaths doubled to more than 2,000 within two days, officials are advising residents of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut not to travel domestically. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued the travel advisory Saturday, urging residents of the three states to "refrain from nonessential domestic travel for 14 days effective immediately." The states would have "full discretion" on implementing the advisory, which exempts employees in critical fields.
"What you don't want is people traveling from that area to other areas of the country and inadvertently and innocently infecting other individuals," Fauci said. "We felt the better way to do this would be an advisory as opposed to a very strict quarantine. And the President agreed, and that's why he made that determination last night."

WTF, Cantrell is blaming the Feds...

So in other words, no common sense to rely on, no accountability afterwards and little leadership imo.

She would be getting accolades today for cancelling even if it cant ever be substantiated how it may have slowed the spread - as sure as she would have been skewered at the time for cancelling.

Instead she's going to have a repeat of Philadelphia of 1918 on her hands. Louisiana is going to be a s hit show, New Orleans will be the epicenter.

IT will be heart-breaking.

Minnesota trooper's roadside gesture during traffic stop brings doctor to tearsDoctor was ready to take her medicine for speeding. But instead of a ticket, trooper gave her his N95 masks.

By  Paul Walsh Star TribuneMarch 29, 2020 — 9:40am

A state trooper pulled over an East Coast doctor for speeding on an east-central Minnesota interstate, told her she should know better and sent her on way grateful for receiving only a warning and not a ticket.
The trooper also gave her a fistful of coveted N95 medical masks that were issued for his protection from the deadly and relentless coronavirus that has swept the globe.
“I burst into tears,” Dr. Sarosh Ashraf Janjua, a Boston cardiologist, wrote in a detailed account of the traffic stop late in the afternoon of March 21 along Interstate 35 in North Branch. “I think he teared up a little as well before wishing me well and walking away.”
The masks have been a persistent point of emphasis for many weeks among politicians, medical professionals and private industry as a vital — and all too scarce — tool in keeping health care providers safe from the virus as they try to fend off illness and death.
“Trooper Schwartz said he noticed what appeared to be two used N95 masks in purse that he assumed she was reusing,” said the patrol’s chief spokesman, Lt. Gordon Shank. “Trooper Schwartz said he heard there was a shortage of personal protective equipment and thought could use the extra masks.”
Shank said Schwartz and his fellow troopers “are working hard during the pandemic and are thinking about all the first responders who are caring for Minnesotans during this critical time.”
Janjua confirmed in her Facebook post that the shortage of N95 masks has left her “afraid of not having adequate protective equipment, and in my darkest moments, have worried about what would happen if I fell sick far from home.”
The doctor was on a fill-in work assignment and more than 1,400 miles from Boston when Schwartz pulled her over for going 85 miles per hour in a 70 mph zone on southbound I-35. Seeing her driver’s license, he asked her what brought her all the way to Minnesota. She replied that she makes the trip monthly for work.
The trooper “quite firmly told me it was very irresponsible of me to be speeding,” Janjua wrote on Facebook, “especially since I would not only take up resources if I got into an accident, but would also not be in a position to help patients.”
The doctor said she felt the sting of his words, and “I waited for him to write me a ticket. Instead, he told me he was going to let me off with a warning.”
As she struggled to apologize and thank the trooper, “he reached in to hand me what I assumed was my license back. It wasn’t until my hand had closed around what he was giving me that its unexpected bulkiness drew my eyes to it. Five N95 masks, from the supply the state had given him for his protection.”
This quiet gesture on a highway shoulder in small-town Minnesota left Janjua feeling hopeful amid widespread trepidation and uncertainty.
“This complete stranger, who owed me nothing and is more on the front lines than I am, shared his precious masks with me, without my even asking,” she wrote. “The veil of civilization may be thin, but not all that lies behind it is savage. We are going to be OK.”

Fauci says coronavirus deaths in US could top 100,000

By ZEKE MILLER Associated PressMarch 29, 2020 — 10:20am

WASHINGTON — As the White House looks for ways to restore normalcy in parts of the U.S., the government's foremost infection disease expert says the country could experience more than 100,000 deaths and millions of infections from the coronavirus pandemic.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, speaking on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday, offered his prognosis as the federal government weighs rolling back guidelines on social distancing in areas that have not been as hard-hit by the outbreak at the conclusion of the nationwide 15-day effort to slow the spread of the virus.
"I would say between 100,000 and 200,000 cases," he said, correcting himself to say he meant deaths. "We're going to have millions of cases." But he added "I don't want to be held to that" because the pandemic is "such a moving target."
About 125,000 cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. had been recorded as of Sunday morning, with over 2,100 dead. It is certain that many more have the disease but their cases have not been reported.
One in three Americans remain under state or local government orders to stay at home to slow the spread of the virus, with schools and businesses closed and public life upended.
Dr. Deborah Birx, head of the White House coronavirus task force, said parts of the country with few cases so far must prepare for what's to come. "No state, no metro area, will be spared," she said on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Fauci said he would only support the rollback in lesser-impacted areas if more testing is in place to monitor those areas. He said "it's a little iffy there" right now.

I love all these numbers. Our beloved governor of MN said we would have 75,000 deaths in MN and then Fauci says its 100,000 for the country. I have friends that I luckily do not live around that are so freaked out and telling me 10 million are going to die in the US. Lots of numbers, not much questioning.

There's a s hit ton of misinformation and people freaking out no doubt...

I dont recall the MN Gov saying there was going to be 75k dead in MN, but who knows?

When Fauci speaks I listen. He's one of the few I actually believe and want to hear from. Even he's saying it's a moving target.

I only listen to the numbers from Fauci and other Infectious Disease experts who have studied this situation there whole professional careers.  The rest of the so-called experts are pulling crap out of you know what.  Yes, I still believe in medical expertise and science :)
