  Zim Cleared To Fly

Mike Zimmer cleared to resume flyingPosted by Josh Alper on July 16, 2017, 5:12 PM EDT[Image: 625534264-e1480561840969.jpg?w=234]Getty ImagesVikings coach Mike Zimmer has reportedly gotten the go ahead to return to the friendly skies.
Zimmer has been grounded since having an eighth surgery in hopes of repairing a torn retina and there was some doubt recently if he would get cleared to fly back to Minnesota from Northern Kentucky for the start of training camp. A gas bubble inserted to stabilize the retina had not dissolved as quickly as expected, which necessitated another visit to an ophthalmologist in Cincinnati.
Brian Murphy of the Pioneer Press reports that Zimmer passed another test during that visit and was given the green light to fly as a result. He’s expected to be fitted for contact lenses after ruling out surgery to have a permanent lens inserted on his right eye.
Zimmer is due back in Minnesota later this week. Rookies are due to report to camp on July 23 and the whole squad will be in on July 26.

Hopefully he doesn't get bumped from his flight...

Little Birdie Says...Teddy going to PUP
Posted by: purplefaithful - 07-17-2017, 12:13 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (13)

It still looks like the Vikings, who begin training camp next week, will place QB Teddy Bridgewater (major knee injury) on the NFL’s physically unable to perform list, meaning he can work out on the side but not partake in official practices.
The next big date for Bridgewater would be Sept. 2. If he’s still on the PUP list then, he would be required to miss the first six games on the season.
It won’t be surprising if Bridgewater and his agent end up claiming by the end of the exhibition games that he’s physically healthy enough to play. If that becomes an issue, it could end up going to an arbitrator. Had Bridgewater not tragically gotten hurt last spring, he could have expected a mega-high-paying contract.
Bridgewater, 24, is under contract this season for $1.35 million. He can become an unrestricted free agent after the 2018 season.

Clocking-in @ #6? Your new, rookie rb - Mr Dalvin Cook...

The 17 most important Vikings in 2017: No. 6, RB Dalvin Cook
To count down the days until Vikings rookies, quarterbacks and select veterans report to Mankato on July 23, we will reveal our ranking of the 17 most important Vikings players heading into the 2017 season. Look for the next player on our list every weekday morning at Access Vikings.
This list, created by Matt Vensel and Andrew Krammer, is not a ranking of the best players on the team, though sheer talent is obviously an essential factor. It is a ranking of the players whose upcoming season will have the biggest impact on the franchise, whether it’s in 2017 or beyond.

Coming in at No. 6 on our list is running back Dalvin Cook.
-----
Sam Bradford is an impressive all-around athlete. In addition to being a pretty good quarterback, Bradford was an AAU basketball teammate of Blake Griffin, was a peewee hockey standout and is a scratch golfer.
He would not, however, be someone you’d fear in the 100-yard dash.
Yet, when you pull up Pro Football Reference and look at the longest runs for the Vikings last season, their running backs only mustered three that gained more than Bradford’s 24-yard scramble in Week 17.
Coveting explosive plays on offense, the Vikings traded up in the second round to draft Dalvin Cook, a two-time All-American who broke loose for a run of 50 or more yards 10 times during his Florida State career.
Those wheels turned heads on the second day of last month’s three-day minicamp, when Cook got loose down the right sideline and could not be caught by cornerback Xavier Rhodes, who runs a 4.4 40-yard dash.
Of course, the Vikings saw more in Cook than simply speed. They were willing to take a chance on Cook, who fell out of the first round due to character concerns, in part because they feel he can be a more versatile backfield weapon than future Hall-of-Fame castoff Adrian Peterson.
Cook can run out of the shotgun, which is a requirement in today’s NFL. He is a legitimate receiving threat out of the backfield, something that despite his immense physical gifts Peterson somehow was never able to become here. And they hope that with coaching Cook can be trusted in pass protection, enabling him to become a true every-down back...

How bullish are you on our Vikings?

I think they're a 10 win, wild-card team.
