Annual VikeFans Tailgate and get together?
OK, Now that camp is behind us its really time to get cranking on this thing. We are targeting the Tampa Bay game on Sunday September 24th for our annual goings on. We are once again hoping to do some sort of Saturday gathering as well as a tailgate before the game....during the game.... and maybe after the game as well ( watch out for the cracks in the asphalt...they can be a real challenge) for those that dont know... typically there are a few that dont have tickets to the game, but want to hang out anyway so we get a TV set up in the parking lot with the game feed going on it for those outside... (this is actually a pretty good time as you can really get to know your brethren and the beers is much much cheaper)
So before we set anything in stone, who would be planning on joining us? Please note "Saturday", "Sunday", or "Both" in your responses as well as how many would be in your group if it will be more than just yourself.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

We might have to keep a smaller footprint in terms of how we set everything up so it can be covered quickly if a shower pops up.
Wish I could be joining ya all, but I probably wont be this year...I am going to swap my Bucs tix for another game to help a friend out who's kid is coming into town.
Have a great time, looks like the chance of rain Sunday is trending down...
Can we get a recap on this, instead of going thru 4 pages to find out what's going on?

Pregame Tailgate in the Lot just north of the stadium. Mike and I will likely be down there when it opens at 7AM to set up. (hopefully same as last year, look for the "Vikefans" banner.)
There will be a TV in the lot for those that dont want to go into the game to watch it on.
We are doing BBQ, Brisket, Pork, Beans, Slaw and Moink appetizers. Will have some sauces, plates, tableware, and papertowels.
If you want drinks you better bring them yourselves as we will have limited space. ( however if somebody would like to attend but has no way to get their beverages of choice down there PM Mike or I and we will try and accommodate requests.)
We dont have a set charge for attending (or eating ) we just have just relied on donations in the past and usually cover expenses... or at least come close. (so donations are appreciated, this is not a for profit venture so if there is any extra it goes back to the site)
We will likely continue for a while after the game, but not all night or anything, just maybe let the traffic clear out a bit.
AND LASTLY... A BIG THANK YOU TO NICHELLE AND HER FRIENDS (some will be joining us) ITS THEIR PARKING SPOTS AND TV THAT WE WILL BE USING...(no parking spots no tailgate) THANKS AGAIN NICHELLE FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!!! (if you attend please be sure to thank them personally, this is a pretty big deal considering how limited the tailgate options have become)

We're lucky to find the car again at MOA, let alone wander around a tailgating lot looking for you guys :p@"RS Express" said: Saturday (the 23rd) is possible, but until where and when is settled I couldn't call it a plan. There would be two of us Would you be joining us on sunday as well?![]()
just a note, if you are coming from the light rail or infront of the stadium, you have to enter the lot off of Chicago Ave. (this is a by parking permit lot only so anybody that is new you will have to park elsewhere and walk in, but the space is absolutely great for atmosphere)
Can you wear those cool looking horn helmets inside the stadium? I also have a big foam hammer, but not sure what is permitted. I am heading out next Tuesday by car and only want to bring what is permitted since I am packing for a two week drive.

you know that this gathering is this coming game this weekend, right Al?
I see the plastic horned helmets in the stadium, or are you talking about the real metal and horned helmets?
@"Buddah" said: Yes on both. I'm coming for the Lions game.
thats when I thought you were coming but I wanted to make sure that wires didnt get crossed.
Hey Jimmy quick question. Is the lot area cans only no bottles? Would like to know and others may be curious as well. Thanks.

They've been pretty strict about it. Since I like to stay on their good side (and keep my spot), we try our best to play by the rules.
Anyone getting together on Saturday night?
....And Nichelle Rocks!

Much appreciate your effort guys. See you Sunday!
Well if you are around for next week's game vs the Lions, I am having a get together of sorts on Saturday the 29th if anyone is interested.

Ok. Another inexperienced question to those that live in the Twin cities. Is bringing some beer on the the light rail allowed or not?
And much thanks to Nichelle for allowing the group to use your spot. Bless you.
I've had friends bring soft-sided coolers filled with drinks on the light rail. Other than that, I'm not sure.
As for the spot, I appreciate it but no thanks are necessary. :) I'm happy to do it. One of the guys from our tailgate group isn't coming so he offered up his spot as well. It's not an inconvenience at all as I'll be parking in the lot too.
For anyone who would prefer something other than beer, I'll have a margarita machine there as well.
We brought beer on the light rail last year. ...just in the cardboard box, if I remember right. The cooler was full of food at the time. Not saying it was allowed or not... but it happened. =) If you have a cooler, I'd put it in there.
