With the announcement yesterday...  Will this still be a thing or will we just meet up at the VWO tailgate since the spots are so limited?  Don't mean to just invite ourselves or step on toes... but that's kinda what Vikings do....   =)

I think we will see how it goes,  its my experience that the VWO are usually pretty good about taking care of non VWO people at their tailgates,  but at the same time,  this is not a VWO things,  its a Vikefans thing as in they are welcome to join us for those that choose to join us,  but they still have their own thing going as well.

I think we will see how it goes,  its my experience that the VWO are usually pretty good about taking care of non VWO people at their tailgates,  but at the same time,  this is not a VWO things,  its a Vikefans thing as in they are welcome to join us for those that choose to join us,  but they still have their own thing going as well.

Okay, so do we have a lot spot to tailgate at?  I thought it was up in the air still and it's creeping closer for those that want to get tickets and what not.

I think that, like myself, Jimmy doesn't want to presume anything.....

 However, I wouldn't mind doing one hell of a cookout for the most amazing tailgate of all time. Just sayin'!

After talking with Mike.

In light of not being able to secure a tailgating spot,  due to the greed of the Wilf family and the City of Minneapolis,  we will likely NOT be doing a Vikefans tailgate this year.  With spots being limited they are going to come at a premium and nobody is willing to part with theirs. ( cant really blame them myself)

We will continue to discuss a get together the evening before the game,  but at this time we dont have anything planned for sure.  

I will be starting a new thread to gauge the interest of just a Saturday afternoon/evening gathering prior to a home game that we can use as an opportunity to get to know our newest members that will be joining us on the boards from the VWO.

Any other ideas would be welcome as well for some sort of annual gathering to replace our tailgate event.

Well that blows, but I can't really blame the city (or the Wilfs). That's prime real estate now. I thought very seriously about buying a condo down there when the stadium was approved. Wish I had. Anyway, I'm no expert on tailgating etiquette, but what's to stop me from buying a sixer and walking around the lots with my beer caddies (er, I mean kids) and just mingling? Nothing against you guys, and I hope to join you on Saturday if it works out, but for me it's more about soaking in the pre-game atmosphere, the sounds, the smells. I can still do that, right? Also, since I've always gone to a tailgate, I've never experienced all the radio and Viking sponsored activities surrounding the stadium. Might be fun to finally check out what that's all about.

I blame them because tailgating is part of the football game day experience for many and if they had no intentions of having it at the new facility they should have either said so from day 1,  or put the damn thing somewhere that would have made tailgating more feasible for the future.  they are making plenty of money off of everything else surrounding the damn stadium, they could have left something for the fans.

as far as trolling for your experience,  no issues at all  that I could see unless maybe they would bust you in the plaza area with a beverage not purchased there, but I dont know for sure.

No, I meant walking around the tailgate lots. They do still have a couple tailgate lots, right? Or are they all gone now?

No, I meant walking around the tailgate lots. They do still have a couple tailgate lots, right? Or are they all gone now? 

my understanding is that there are still some lots,  Im just not sure which ones or where they are at.  maybe thats what we should all do is just get together with a  few coolers and other stuff in wagons and roll around the lots until we find some place to hijack!

like Mike says,  we've just gotten an offer that we want to iron out, but as its a fellow Vikefan it should be pretty much set that its going to happen.  We just have to work out the hows.
