Wow....

Yeah, DIA is never that empty. My goodness, this thing has really gotten ahold of people. But I suspect that it's going to make a far bigger dent in the global economy than the global population.

What changes have you made? Personally, I have tickets to fly to San Francisco with my kids to see my brother in a couple of weeks. And, so far anyway, I plan to go. But I have to say I'm a little nervous about it, especially with my kids. Not as much about the virus as how people are panicking about it. A flight yesterday was rerouted to Denver because someone, um...sneezed. And I am narrowing in on some ridiculously priced tickets to Cancun in May. Am I crazy?

i am headed to brussels in two weeks unless they shut down all air travel.
Everyone just turn off the news for a month and all will be fine.

I've been washing my hands more lately, that's for sure. I had some tentative travel plans for mid-April to the Bay Area as well actually, that I don't think I'll be making. Other than that I'm just hoping for the best for everyone.
It will be a great day when this disease-- and the fears around it-- pass.

Yeah. There are so many cultural differences that I don't understand and I'm not super informed on this topic to begin with, but I did read China announced they're shutting these markets down again. They shut it down previously for SARS but then reopened it. If this is the global consequence for eating rare live animals, then hopefully people can find something else to snack on.

I have been in that very spot in the picture, dozens of times, and it has always been packed with people; especially at 1:46 pm.

My daughter is getting married in mid May in Colorado. I called Southwest today to see if i could get a discount on my tickets. Not yet, they said.

We are still planning on going in a couple of months, and my wife and I are going to Riviera Maya in November.

Nothing has changed for us, big annual St. Patrick’s Day party with friends on Saturday, tattoo convention in Chicago next weekend.

Live life, don’t be afraid.

I don't think you are going to make it to Brussels.....for example, Norwegian Air has cancelled 3000 flights until mid June internationally. Its going to get worse before it gets better.

People are losing their shit. Costco can't keep toilet paper, water and Clorox wipes in stock. They are gone each time they are restocked in hours.

I was hoping to do a bunch of dusty work this weekend and even here in the heartland I cant find any damn dust masks.  Its nuts how crazy shit is getting,  but it sounds like things are calming down in china,  is that because they lost their shit and got control over the spread of the virus or is it just the non starter that we seem to be hoping it is?

What I don't understand is the response of the business leaders.  Seriously.
Daily corporate emails. Travel restrictions and visitor restrictions. One was a questionnaire for visitor's. Really? Ask where they've been and if their families have been to certain places....ect. Guess what. Most these guests are sales person's. Guess what. Sales people sometimes...ummm... stretch the truth. No offense to folks in sales. I love yah. Without sales there would be no manufacturing. Why on earth are these companies acting crazy? It's like in an effort to ensure they don't lose manpower to illness they drive down production to where they don't need manpower. Do it with restrictions and general panic, well more puzzlement really, that they are creating. Shutting down manufacturing worldwide is going to have a terrible trickle down effect for the entire year. 2020 is gonna suck...imo.

Just got back from DC, the scariest part is walking past all the gates with CNN on.  My son who is involved with NIH had one comment, that the reported numbers statistically don't reflect any of the models.  Their theory is we don't have enough data, tests, to project the actual population affected.

My girlfriend works at a cancer center. Yesterday was her turn to pre-screen everyone entering the building. I think it gets worse before it gets better. But, it's almost April.

I think things are already worse than we know and there is a really an information lag going on.  My company was already taking action over a month ago, just based on supply chain data.  The models used in epidemiology use different data sets and are much more precise, why the lag.

Its' bad and going to get worse...

How much worse depends on how much we ourselves, business, colleges etc. change behavior the next 3 weeks.

Fox News is under reporting on this.

As I like to say, let's just remove all the warning labels and let things sort themselves out.

No doubt it will get worse before it gets better. But even if we get to the point where half of the globe is infected, and say the death rate even doubles to 5%, after a month or two of this, people will come to realize that living with CV is just a new normal--that 95% of the people who get it recover, that life goes on, as do baseball games, bake sales, business travel and bar mitzvahs, albeit with understood precautions that everyone will understand. And that's when we will all start to feel a little better about our bloodied 401Ks.

If not, I'm moving to Boulder with Mother Abagail. :-)
