OT: Coronavirus
Y'know how alcohol doesn't just impair your ability to drive?  It impairs your ability to know when you're too impaired to drive? I think it does the same with Covid.

This is what happens when you expect/hope for common sense from the common people. A few knuckleheads will F uck it up big time.
PF, its more than a few. Let me give you one example:

A friend's daughter just started at the University of Colorado....really had no business going anywhere away from home as her parents have spoiled her HORRIBLY and she can barely tie her own shoes (she's 19). She texts and Facetimes her Mom at least 10 times a day WHEN SHE LIVED AT HOME.....but that's another story. She's an entitled little bitch (sorry, but she is....I hate to say it but its true). So long story short, she got COVID. Boulder county in Colorado has had a dramatic spike in cases the last 2 weeks and the University is the culprit. She's crying, telling her Mom she wants to come home. Her roommate also has it. Her roommate after 2 days GOT ON AN AIRPLANE and came home....with COVID. Then this girl did the same after another day. The parents didn't make either of them stay for the 14 days. Wanted their babies home to take care of them. Another friend has 2 nieces and a nephew (ages 26, 28 and 30) that live in Chicago and St.Louis....all 3 got COVID. Why? Went to a 40 person birthday party.

This shit is happening all over the country. Now schools and colleges are open and the cases are spiking.
I think this sense of entitlement isn't just about youth. I think it might be why America is struggling so much more than other countries. We've had it good for so long that many in this country think they're entitled to a certain level of freedom, a certain level of happiness, and no goddam chang flu is going to prevent that.

During night time bombing raids over Britain, every citizen of London would shut their lights off to make it harder for Nazi pilots to find the city. Not just to protect their house, but to protect all houses. I don't think that would happen in America today. Some dickwad would argue about his right to keep his lights on.

Absolutely these helicopter parents are not helping. These young people are so not prepared for the real world and that's on the parents. It's definitely about the adults which includes the anti-maskers that went to protest because of an infringement on their freedoms and rights. Seriously? That is such selfish bullshit that they blatantly disregard the health and safety of others.

A conspiracy theorist politician who branded coronavirus a hoax and claimed it was part of a ‘socialist agenda’ has been killed by Covid-19.
Former Nashville councilor Tony Tenpenny, 57, died of the virus over the weekend, after spending months branding it an overblown fabrication. Tenpenny, a Donald Trump supporter, shared a post on May 30 that the virus had been whipped up to try and stop Trump being re-elected on November 3. In June, he share a meme claiming mask wearers had been ‘manipulated to live in irrational fear’ and blasted them for being ‘controlled by a socialist agenda. ‘
Tenpenny continued his ranting posts through July, branding the World Health Organization and US Centers for Disease Control ‘pure lying asses’. He shared outlandish conspiracy theories, including one from a rogue doctor beloved of Donald Trump who linked coronavirus to demons. He also claimed ongoing lockdowns across the United States were about ‘shutting down the US economy, blaming Trump, & setting up a One World Govt.’ Tenpenny continued sharing the posts on his now deactivated Facebook account until August.

I think stupid knows no geography.

I have to wonder if this person knew better, but spouted this nonsense for political reasons. If that's the case, he deserved what he got for spreading dangerous, even lethal, lies. It's very possible his propaganda killed people.

If he didn't know better, if he really believed that hoax bullshit, then he probably didn't belong in a position of leadership. How does one do that? How does one graduate from college (presumably), live out in the real world and believe that the pandemic, which has now, verifiably, killed over a million people world wide, is a hoax meant to shut down the US economy, drive a socialist agenda and set up a one-world government. That's just batshit.

I feel bad for his family, but science needs to study people like this.

Being educated does not guarantee common sense or not being gullible. Being intellectually dishonest or disingenuous in times like these as a public figure should come with a jail sentence. Its way worse than being ignorant, its malice.
