Film review: How the Vikings secondary stalled the Rams' explosive passing attack

Against a Rams offense accounting for the fourth-most explosive pass plays in the NFL, the Vikings attacked what they felt like was the source: The running game.Against a Rams offense with speedy threats accounting for the fourth-most explosive pass plays in the NFL, the Vikings attacked what they felt like was the source: Todd Gurley.
“If you stop the run, then you stop the bootleg,” nose tackle Linval Joseph said. “You pretty much have them bottled up.”
On early downs, you’d often see safety Harrison Smith or Anthony Harris roam near the line of scrimmage against Los Angeles on Sunday. And even after the Vikings took an early punch from Gurley via 31 yards and an opening-drive touchdown, the defense again became a brick wall.
With Gurley gaining little, the offense was forced into Jared Goff’s hands. Blitzes and a crafty Vikings secondary were waiting.

That's Cordarelle Patterson of the Raiders year totals thus far. No TDs on kickoff returns as a Raider.

Remmers and Sendejo expected to return to practice Tuesday

With an expedited practice schedule this week in preparation for the Thanksgiving Day game in Detroit, the Vikings take to the field Tuesday for what would on a normal week be their Thursday practice. With that, injured players are also placed on an expedited practice schedule.
Monday afternoon, starters Mike Remmers was a non-participant (cocussion) and Andrew Sendejo (groin/hamstring) was a limited participant. Both players missed last week's game against the Rams and for Remmers, it's been a couple weeks since he's played.
Sendejo says that he expects to play this Thursday against the Lions and according to head coach Mike Zimmer Remmers is expected to return to practice today.

Zimmer announces Case Keenum to start Thursday in Detroit

It's been a bit of a weekly debate for the Minnesota Vikings all season but with the early week game in Detroit we've already got an answer for the starting quarterback on Thanksgiving day.
Based off of his play the past few weeks, it shouldn't be a surprise, but head coach Mike Zimmer officially announced that Case Keenum will be the starter against the Lions.

Yes I know they were missing two big players on D.  But still, this is my general thoughts on the team

Quote:Former NFL general manager Michael Lombardi described the Seahawks' defense Monday as "a former boxing champion that knows how to fight but does not have any fight left in them."
Carrol is making stupid calls, fake FG, going for it at the end only to change his mind and send out a flaky kicker.  Just an awful challenge to waste a critical time out.  They are falling apart IMO.  They still have talent, but they don't have the swagger.  Their defense only wants to play part time.

can survive an injury to their starting QB?

In the NFC:
Philly without Wentz? No.
N.O. without Brees? No.
Rams without Goff? No.
Carolina without Newton? No.
Atlanta without Ryan? No.
Seattle without Wilson? No.
Detroit without Stafford? No.
Washington without Cousins? No.
(G.B. without Rodgers? - just had to throw that one in for fun)

In the AFC:
NE without Brady? Hoyer? I say no.
Pittsburgh without Big Ben? No.
Tennessee without Mariota? No.
Jags without Bortles? (is it Henne? Whatever, they do not lose much.) Yes.
KC without Smith? (Mahomes may be a player soon but I doubt he is now.) No.
Ravens without Flacco? No.
SD without Rivers? No.
Houston without Watson (we are seeing what that is like) No.

Then you have the Vikings without Bradford. Keenum has kept it going. But if he goes down, Teddy comes in. Nobody would be throwing in the towel in that case. Cannot even say for sure that we wouldn't be better at the position.

There is still a lot of football to play this season. A lot can still happen. But the Vikings' depth across the board, but especially at the most important position, is impressive.
