This defense is not generational. They just got run the fuck over. It is all or nothing.
Remember when that new zone blocking scheme was going to deliver the running game to the promised land? Today? 18 carries (and only 15 were called runs, the other 3 scrambles). But, let's play chicken with INDY and hold onto that extra 5th pick in 2028 vs getting Taylor...

Oddly, statistically, Kyler Murray outplayed Jared Goff (or at least played him even), however, Dan Campbell outreached KOC. Maybe it is just one loss and MIN beats Buffalo next week, but fans do not have much more patience for O'Connell.

Observation #12 in MIN loss to DET: I like Jordan Mason β as a backup. Aaron Jones is constantly hurt. Pull the trigger and get the RB you need. Why would the Vikings waste a generational defense to try and save a draft choice?
Would a premier back have made a difference for the offense today? I think a strong argument could be made for yes and a lesser argument made for no.
A bit of ball control today could have kept Goff/Gibbs on the sideline more and the D doesnt get as tired/gashed.
Yes K1 needs to play better AND there is really a missing piece to this offense on top of it.
Mason averaged 2.5 ypc today and Jones 2.9 ypc
I mean, Gibbs was the difference maker today, not Goff or St Brown or LaPorta or Williams.
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!Β
Go trade for Gardner Minshew. Low risk high upside move. We need to have options moving forward at the quarterback position.

Lions defense is terrible. Out 5 defensive starters. Vikings offense looks terrible again and scores only 15 points. When is something going to change?

Enough with the excuses. No one wants to hear them anymore.

KOC is a terrible play caller
Kyler Murray isn't good
Changes need to be made. Who cares about having a good record when we know the weaknesses that will cost them in the end.

If the Vikings want to be serious contenders, then they need to go find a legitimate QB or they will squander a generational defense. It's really that simple. If they choose to stand pat with the current QB situation, then I question their seriousness of trying to win.

Held Detroit to 19 when they were averaging 30. But, do go on.

There is no fixing this team 8 weeks in with a team lacking the most important position on the football team. The rest of this season going to be a quick bunch of losses. and might slide into the last wildcard slot and lose yet again in the first round. And surprise surprise we have zero idea who the QB will be yet again ...

This from the tweet shared above is the crux of it.
Kyler and KO both soiled their diapers today which has become a weekly occurrence.
We tried it now for almost half a season. Itβs not working and isnβt improving. So there ought to be a change in either the guy throwing the ball or the guy calling the plays because at this point it seems clear that neither Kyler nor KO is gonna just adapt to the other and form a symbiotic and successful pairing. We can all keep hoping they do but likeβ¦ thatβs not a strategy.

Nah our defense is outstanding. Itβs not 1985 anymore.
They were on the field all day and Detroit finally scored some points on it.
Meanwhile our offense did jack squat most of the day against the worst defense in the league missing half their team by the end of the game.

Defense is good but gimmicky, but still very good. Generational was being thrown around. Not even close

Vikings HC Kevin OβConnell says CB Isaiah Rodgers had an ankle sprain. QB Kyler Murray had hamstring tightness but returned, per KOC.
