“it’s gonna sting a bit”…understatement of the century
I am going to miss all those Division titles, playoff wins, and Super Bowl appearances.
We will be probably missing a lot of things for awhile. But now that Kirko is gone, the curmudgeon crew can go after KAM. Then KOC. And keep hammering on the Wilfs.
What has been great in the Wilf era? Keeping the team in MPLS? Favre 2009? Miracle 2017? Viking fans should be used to mediocrity.
well,  as an in market fan of the team... I am pretty happy they didnt move the team,  would really suck to have to pay to watch their annual trials and tribulations.
That is their  good moment, though from a tax standpoint I would probably be against a stadium if they ever did it again.
IIRC the state of Minnesota is about a decade ahead in terms of revenue projections from the pull tab sales that were earmarked for the stadium, add on top of that the additional revenue from hosting the superbowl as well as other events,  probably is saving tax payers money vs not having a pro team.
Living in Minnesota I don't think it is possible to add more taxes. Saving taxpayers money is not what this state government does. But I digress.

Any idea what a plan B will look like?

The "sinking feeling" in my gut says plan B will be at best a 5-12 record for next season.  :#

well how about SD... sales tax cuts last year ( to make noem look good for a hopeful VP bid )  but in return they raise valuations on all property to hit those that own homes and farms harder... makes perfect sense for a state thats #2 income is from tourism... to spend millions annually to get people to come vacation here,  but then cut the funding mechanism that those tourists feed into.... seriously,  how fucking brain dead is that?

but yes totally agree,  if you think they are doing something to help the little guy,  its because the big guy is profiting more.  ( Look up carbon pipelines,  what a bunch of crap that one is )

Yup,

What do you envision as a Plan B (for bridge)
Do you expect them to get aggressive in moving-up for a QB, or is that not realistic or their style?
Translate year to year vs a 3 or 4 year guarantee?

Will not matter who it's going to be until we build out the trenches.  Need a center with a lead anchor that doesn't get pushed back into the QB every pass play.  Need some good backs too.  Memory's a bit fuzzy but some better some better guard play would have been nice(could be wrong might have been the tackles/backups).  Games are won in the trenches converting 3rd or sometimes fourth.  Our line needs to win the LOS battle.

In the meantime I gotta get back to work on expanding that Championship case for all the trophies Kirk brought to Vikings.  Don't get me wrong, I liked Kirk Cousins the man, ... but Kirk Cousins the player gave me fits.  1 Division Title.  1 Playoff Win.  ...In six seasons( really 5.5 but... meh close enough) just isn't enough for me to think the Vikings are done for.

Darnold is high on their list if they go the FA route, but think they will look at trade options as well. I don't foresee Fields, but Zach Wilson is apparently someone KOC is still high on and he'd be cheap. Davis Mills could be another option as well. But I think their goal is to find their franchise QB in the draft, which just might take biting the bullet and moving up.

Anyone know if Mills used to bag groceries in Iowa by chance?

When the Falcons come to U.S. Bank this season hopefully Cousins is still playing and not on IR. It will be fun to watch if the Falcons are still alive for a playoff spot. That may be too much to hope for.

So again I ask, what good was the competitive rebuild model? What has that strategy really gotten us? Playoff wins, nope. Hanging on to Cousins and kicking future money into dead years so we could retain him, nope. Positioned to draft a franchise QB without having to "give up the farm?" Nope. So we now get the honor of giving up a shit ton of draft picks to move up and take a swing on a quarterback who could very well bust and throw us into a Hershal Walker type black hole, all so we could be "competitive" and appease the Wilfs egos when we should have blown this up from the day they decided to can Zimmer and Spielman.. This front office has no idea what they are doing, and I hate to say I'm right and have been right....but I'm right! Going to be very interesting to see how they try to dig this franchise out of the hoke they created. My only hope as a fan is that they don't make that hole deeper in the process.

If KOC is actually high on Wilson, I have zero faith in KOC's ability to judge NFL talent. There's a reason he'd be cheap. Davis Mills? Just give me another year of Hall.

Vikings offered more more than 45m?  Were they willing to go 4 years?
