Here is PFF's list of the top 150 available free agents this offseason. The Vikings definitely should be more active and if I was Kwesi, I'd always be looking at high upside guys coming off their rookie contracts (Winfield, Javon Kinlaw, etc).

I will mention one name being rumored the Vikings might take a run at (no pun intended) is Derrick Henry. Might be an interesting fit at this point in his career.

Given the way RB salaries have tanked, getting one in free agency might be the best investment. Barkley and Jacobs are probably too young to be affordable, but Henry is interesting. He's an outside zone RB disguised as a power back. He's also 30 and on his 3rd contract, so that will keep his price manageable.

He and Chandler would probably make a pretty good combo, although if I were Henry, I'd probably be looking at a team more committed to running the football than the Vikings have been under KOC. However at the end of the day, it is the running back market and any money is good money...so we'll see. I could see him ending up in Baltimore or Dallas

I’m not overly concerned at RB. I see a clear starter in Chandler. Averaging 4.5 with our line was impressive.

I’m looking for a disruptive (lots of pressures) d lineman and hopefully a vet corner. Defense defense defense.

I agree, although Chandler hasn't been the healthiest guy and we will need a second and probably 3rd back somewhere this offseason

Winfield would be a huge get but I don’t see us signing a CB with Murphy penciled in and Blackmon/Booth/Evans(?) in the other side.

Kinlaw would be a great pickup. Him alongside Phillips could work.

We’re set at LB starters if we re-sign Hicks I think.

I don’t think Hunter has interest in re-signing here unfortunately, so that makes Allen, Young, or Burns big priorities, along with probably spending an early pick on DE.

The defense badly needs a talent infusion and we don’t have the picks to do so if we’re drafting a QB early. So it’s gotta be FAs.

Hicks was incredible for us this year. We had three guys on every level that made this defense go; Hunter, Hicks and Bynum. But Hicks will be 32 in June and I wonder if the Vikings have any confidence in Asamoah finally being able to fill that role if it came down to it? I'd like to see them bring Hicks back if possible

Lets go get Patrick Queen and get younger, better.

That’d be sweet. To supa’s point about Asamoah it’s looking like he’s a bust, sadly. After Hicks got hurt was Asamoah also hurt? I don’t recall but I also don’t recall seeing him on the field much.

Honestly there will be a lot of teams going after the top FAs. If we can land a couple at any level of the defense that will be a massive win. We need a talent infusion, wherever that may be. I trust Flo to make it work. Outside Pace and Bynum (and Hunter if back), every other spot should be up for grabs.

Per Jeremy Fowler at ESPN, Danielle Hunter expected to have a "strong" free agent market for his services with the Bears and Jaguars expected to make a major push

That's the difference in the "competitive rebuild" and tearing it down to build it up again like the Bears have done (but you and I both know that). They can certainly outbid the Vikings if they wanted, and could you imagine Hunter paired opposite Sweat on that Bears line? Talk about a major kick in the balls if that comes to fruition.

Part of that may be the bears trying to get the Vikes to blow a huge chunk of cap on Hunter too,  if I was a GM I would certainly let it slip that I'm interested in free agents from division rivals, regardless of if it was true or not,  from time to time.

Bears have the 7th most cap space (currently) to spend in free agency. Vikings are middle of the road (15th) so if it comes down to a bidding war, we lose and he signs in Chicago which is well known to want to continue upgrading their defense this offseason. We'll see, but it would make a lot of sense for them to add a bookend to Sweat

Vikings can easily clear a bunch of cap with a TJH redo alone.

If Harry leaves? Thats even more $

Question is will they want to throw that much $ at Hunter?  I hope they do.

The Jaguars had been trying to trade for Hunter for some time, & let’s not overlook the tax advantages of playing in Florida. I think the Bears may break the bank for Chris Jones, they can then draft a top edge & gain some cost control, having already invested in Sweat at the DE position.

Jones is one I would look at targeting of they do resign Cousins.  It would be nice to go younger,  but his playmaking and experience would go a long way on our DL.  I still advocate going for a hard reset,  but if they don't them go hard after it.

Bears cut Whitehair and Eddie Jackson today. Now sit at 70 million in available space to spend.

But oooohhhhh, that "competitive rebuild"...

Just curious, what's your view of the draft two years ago when the Vikes traded back with both the Lions and Packers?  How about the draft picks of Cine and Booth, and your overall feelings of Kwesi?  I'm not sure anyone has heard your view points on these topics yet.  B)

It's just pointing out the contrast between the two philosophies and we have two organizations within the same division who hit the reset buttons on new front offices at the same time, so you can make a valid comparison. If you are asking me today, which organization did things the wisest and which situation and resources I'd rather have...it would be the Bears all day long. I say this knowing Kwesi has all but been saddled with the competitive mandates of the Wilfs, so you can't blame him completely

Kwesi is a value shopper in free agency. I don't see any big name/big salary free agents coming to the Vikings. A number of the top free agents will stay with their current teams anyway. Hard to predict who is really available.

I think the Vikings will need to do something at edge and I would like to see a veteran upgrade for Evans, who I don't see as a starting corner in the NFL.

One positive, Flores knows what he needs to improve his defense. If Kwesi gets him the players he needs, they could be pretty good.
