So Stupid...

Vikings rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison was cited for speeding and reckless driving early Thursday morning in St. Paul, Minn.
Addison,
21, is accused of traveling 140 mph in a 55-mph zone while driving a
Lamborghini Urus, according to a statement by the Minnesota State
Patrol. The incident occurred on eastbound Interstate 94 near Dale
Street in St. Paul, according to the MSP.
Addison, whose place of residence is listed as Frederick, Md., played college football at Pittsburgh and Southern California. He won the 2021 Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s top receiver at Pitt before transferring to USC for his junior season.

I think most of us have but let's be honest. He was pulled over at Dale Street which is downtown St Paul. The road actually turns to parkway right around there with reduced (50 mph) speed limit at the merge with 35E. The police patrol that stretch of road fairly often as there are a fair amount of accidents in that area as there are a few uncharacteristically tight Interstate turns as the road weaves through buildings that were there before the 35E extension was added in the late '80s.. The street video showed the road wasn't "empty". It was stupid. Hope the kid learns from his mistake.
If you need an example about excessive speed, look at Gladney. He died at the age of 25 in Texas. The Vikings former number one pick a few years ago.

I don't know why we keep having to say it's stupid. I think all know that. It was stupid when we did it and it was stupid when he did it. No matter the road.I think the point of disagreement is this: Some think he got lucky, hope he learned from it, and also hope it doesn't foretell future behavior. Others think the Vikings GM and its scouting staff should be drawn, quartered, and fired immediately for drafting such an obvious bust.
To be perfectly honest, I'm more bothered by his dollar suit and "let's get paid" comment than I am about a 21 year old with a brand new Lamborghini seeing what she'll do in the middle of the night. Hell, I'd do that too. And I'm one helluva a nice guy.
I do think the dog story is probably bullshit though. Guessing next we find out his dog was sick because it ate his playbook.

If he turns out to be an immature turd (and this isn't a good start) who doesn't produce for one reason or another, do you not think the GM would have some explaining to do? Would you not like to know what was uncovered or overlooked in the background process? He was the fourth of four receivers drafted in a row. Why was he the last? Did these other receiver needy organizations uncover something that made them go with a different player? All fair questions if this blows up.Again, nobody is rooting against Addison and we all want (and need) him to succeed. Kwesi needs it more then anyone...
Four wide receivers were selected ahead of Justin Jefferson in the 2020 NFL draft: Henry Ruggs III, Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, and Jalen Reagor. Apparently we missed something on Justin… ;)

I had Addison 5th in my final rankings this year. Just happy Rick was there making the pick and took Jefferson. Kwesi would have traded the pick to Green Bay for Dean Lowry and a dozen Dunkin Donuts

I think there may be a slight difference in mentality for the f150 owner versus the lambo owner.

There was zero mention of it. The smart money is because it was just some bullshit excuse he spouted off to the officer on scene and his agent who likely wrote the apology did not want to compound the issue by further perpetuating a lie@"supafreak84" said:My Megabyte just passed away last Wednesday at the Animal Emergency Clinic. John Wick has killed 439 people for his dog and everyone loves him but Jordan Addison breaks the speed limit for his and he’s a monster and the season is over.

It's just fuggin' amazing, sometimes. Truly.
First day on the board? :p
Fair point, I forgot the inevitability of melodrama-mamas.
Can say the same thing about your post, seems kind of hypocritical.
It's not.I think it's a bad joke to equate taking issue with some overreacting posters on a sports board to said posters somehow dragging our GM for not having precognition, while largely ignoring the judgement/actions of a young man behaving poorly, and continuing to somehow ignore the magnificent progress the team made in both culture and win count under KAM.
Meanwhile, yes, on a single thread on this board, I alluded to the ridiculousness and didn't even name names.
The scales are nothing like even.
Swing and a miss.
It is..... you are judging others for having an opinion about Kwesi and Addison and claiming they are being overreactive and yet by far you are the most judgmental and overreactive poster on this thread by far. And how big or you to not name names :/ like somehow you are the ultimate ruler of this board. Talk about ridiculousness.....
Wow, you like to put assumptions on me.My "opinions" on some armchair GMs vs people insinuating career-defining takes regarding a real GM whose had positive effects on our team and a kid we've who's only barely shown up for his first training camp...?
Yep, absolute ridiculousness. Block me after pointing on your Teddy Bridgewater doll where I hurt you.
Five days after police cited Vikings rookie receiver Jordan Addison for driving 140 miles per hour down Interstate 94, team brass stood by Addison's character.General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O'Connell cited the team's pre-draft research into Addison's background, as well as the how the 21-year-old Addison and his network have responded to the incident, as reasons to feel confident in his future.
O'Connell said Addison spoke with him and Adofo-Mensah "multiple times" after he was stopped around 3:15 a.m. Thursday on eastbound I-94 in St. Paul.
"The big thing for me talking to Jordan was let's learn from it," O'Connell said, "and I think he's got a good perspective on owning it, taking responsibility but also moving forward the right way."
O'Connell said Addison relayed his reasoning to the team – that his "dog was having an emergency at his residence," which State Patrol recorded in a citation for reckless driving.
"Things like that can't happen again regardless of what may have caused him to drive that fast," O'Connell said. "He's always been a guy through the whole draft process and getting to know him, his family and everything, I have 100% confidence in Jordan and that he's obviously going to have a great camp. But I still feel strongly about the type of person and player we added to our team."
The team is still internally discussing whether to punish Addison for the incident, according to Adofo-Mensah, who said he heard from Addison's family afterward. Addison apologized in a statement, saying he "used poor judgment."
"Obviously, he made a mistake," Adofo-Mensah said. "But what you see after the fact, from his representatives to his family, who reached out to me, this kid was raised right. He knows what he did was a mistake. Everybody in his life is aligned to make sure this was a one-time occurrence. We want to make sure we coach him up and know this is something that shouldn't happen and was serious, but we believe in Jordan and his future."
Addison, who suffered an injury in May rookie camp and didn't participate in spring practices, is expected to be a full participant during Wednesday's first training camp session, O'Connell said.
