The #Saints and #Panthers have made offers for #Texans QB Deshaun Watson and are likely to meet with him soon, sources tell me and
@TomPelissero. Other teams also are involved. Watson has a no-trade clause and wants to meet with teams before formally waiving it anywhere.

Deshaun Watson situation shows power of talent over all. If interested teams want to grill him about the pending 22 civil cases...well, there's other interested teams not as concerned about that. He has multiple options, giving him leverage in what the discussions are like.
Yep.  Why I say that Kaep's issue wasn't the baggage, but his ability to play QB.  The NFL would employ murders, child molesters and rapists if they were talented enough.

And no, I am not trying to drag politics in, just saying the NFL HQ should legally be required to work out of Nevada.

The AFC North will now feature Deshaun Watson, Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson. All 26 years or younger.

Potential for a decade of elite QB play.

Noticed you slipped up and forgot to include Mitch Trubisky in this.
I got your back man!

$230m / 20 victims = about $7.5m after attorney fees?

Just so we’re clear. Watson originally said no to the Browns.

So in his world No really does mean Yes.

So I was reading that his contract is structured so that 1 million is his base for the first year. I guess they are anticipating a suspension.

NFC teams better grab all those QB prospects in 23 -- or the AFC is about to go on one hell of a SB run.

Does Baker land in Seattle, NO or Panthers???

Well, 3 of the last 5 Super Bowl winners have been from the NFC. It still comes down to clutch plays. That's the funny thing about QB prospects, hard to say where their ceiling will end up being. As great as Mahomes can be at times, he really shit the bed in the playoffs. And had a very inconsistent regular season. We'll see if he's developed the yips in crucial situations.

Watching KC lose the CG @ home last year was the closest I've seen to the 98 Vikings since 98.

The talent around him was there....in spades. The QB wasn't. Just goes to show that missing on a QB in the 1st round, which is far more likely than hitting, sets your team back years.
Missing on a QB doesn't set your team back years.  What sets you back years is not getting another guy in the pipeline.
Pipeline? Do you mean drafting another one or drafting one and letting them sit? Like Jordan Love and Trey Lance? Because although that's what fans like to see organizations do (draft them and have them sit a year) that actually rarely works out. The guys that end up producing are the ones that play early. So yeah, missing on a QB isn't ideal. But in the NFL, QB bandaids abound.
No, what I'm saying is that if you draft a Ponder or a Trubisky, you don't play him for 5 years hoping that he figures it out, and then cut him, and then draft the best option in that draft because you now have no one and are desperate.   You should know within 2 years if they're realistically likely to be elite.  If not draft another guy and play whoevers the best, and then trade someone if you end up with 2 good players.  I do think there are sometimes you should sit a QB for a year, mostly when you are trying to overhaul their throwing motion and trying to ingrain a habit.

I'm also a believer that you draft QBs when you have the chance to draft a good one, rather than when you are desperate.  You just never know if the draft you need a QB will even have a quality QB available.

That is what I have been posting about for years and especially last year when you had a very deep 1st round QB group, and we had a relatively high pick for our standards at 14.  We could have just taken Mac Jones ( I was not a fan) or moved up for some draft capital for Fields(I advocated for this).  But Spelly had committed too much into Kirk so we didn't "desperately" need a QB like the Ponder year :)  I don't think we even considered any of the 1st round QB's.

So this year the 1st round QB talent is shallow (according to all the pundits) and we have pick 12.  It's seems like we don't "desperately" need a QB from this draft because low and behold we have Kirk extended.  So let's go with the ole build around him instead of looking ahead.  The thing is maybe Kwesi/FO rank the QB's and find that they think Willis or Pickett is a TOP 5-10 pick.  Do they have conviction in their assessment and make the move?  Probably not but for a new regime now is their chance to put their stamp on things.  Maybe the first QB is still there at 12, will this new regime take him?  I'm not sure but we know Spelly's commitment to Kirk and now Kwesi's extension (kick the can) makes them feel not desperate.

So let's project to 2023, when the pundits say it is a very deep QB's class.  We are stuck with another poison-pill contract for 1 year with Kirk so we have to hold him or trade him and everyone knows that and they also know/think the QB draft is strong.  Let's say we end up with pick 15.  Apparently, the Top QB's will be long gone by 15....does Kwesi start felling kwesi about the QB position or is it we are not desperate because we have Kirk (great stats).

I want front office leadership like the Chiefs had when they put all the chips in on Mahomes or the Bills with Allen or even when the Chargers took Herbert when many analysts said it was way to high for him etc..

Too early to tell but this new administration seems like the same but maybe the draft will surprise us.  I thought it was a good thing that we kept the FO surround for Kwesi full of veteran football mean but I really hope they (and the Wilf's) aren't stifling fresh thinking and restricting what Kwesi would really do.  Again, way too early, but I am not impressed at all.

If that's sarcasm, I get it but that's not what I'm saying here. I'm saying that the good QBs also can shit the bed if your name isn't Tom Brady. The Chiefs were poised for something better and honestly, Mahomes fucked it up this year. Stafford has as many Superbowl wins as Mahomes. Its all about the team you end up on.

Go ahead and hate on Cousins. Odds are overwhelmingly that whomever we get to possibly replace him would suck out loud in comparison. If Stafford can win a Superbowl, 100% fucking guaranteed so can Kirk Cousins as a Viking.
