There are 5 stages of grief: denial and isolation, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.  For a long time I denied Zimmer was a bad coach; then I moved to anger when first time starting QBs would carve up the Vikings' defense.  The bargaining was Kirk Cousins and the belief Cousins would solve some of the problems.  Last year was the depression.  Today, I moved solidly into acceptance that Zimmer should be removed.  What stage are you in?

With Spielman, I am probably at the bargaining stage as I find it somewhat hard to judge his performance because of Zimmer.  Though the fact he hired Zimmer is pushing me towards depression.

BTW, I have also accepted that Cousins needs to go.

I honestly think this is his last year if this keeps up.  That was what the "rebuild/retool" was about this off season for the defense.  I cut him some slack, but that first half of football.  Good lord.

The decision to not play any starters in the preseason bit Zimmer in the ass today.  With two new starters on the offensive line and one starter from last year switching sides, the penalties in the first half told the story today.  On the sidelines, Zimmer gave off the image of a guy that has a contract for the next two years without a worry for his job.

The offense remains predictable with the annoying habit of throwing behind the sticks on 3rd downs and hoping for a missed tackle.

Zimmer its time to move on and take every coach with you.

This has been the norm since Cousins has gotten here and it is all on him.  If you want to know how much of  a team player he is, watch the 3rd and 11 play on the last drive of OT and watch him not even think about throwing for a 1st, Thielen was not even in position to run after the catch, so it was just dumping it off, that is how his stats go up and his wins go down.

My personality doesn't do grief...it's over when it's over. Zim is over imho.

Zim was a great hire at the time and has been a good coach for this franchise. Today was just one game.

That said, while the writing might not quite be on the wall yet, the cap is off the pen.

We’ll see what happens over the next monthish but the kindest thing I can say about the Vikings effort today is uninspired.

Tough schedule. Horrible game to lose. Need two wins in the playoffs to remain employed.

I do not think cousins is anything more than a bridge QB but that play is designed to be put in Thielen’s hands. It was a terrible playcall. When they run that play it is going to thielen almost every single time. We have a habit of calling plays that do not extend beyond the sticks and that has been a problem since WAAAAAAY before Cousins or Thielen got here.

Our Defense gave up 27 points today. That is unacceptable when your entire team identity is supposed to be defensive awesomeness. And the oline accounted for how many yards in penalties? Close to 100? Honestly I don’t know. And the pressures. And coupled with no time in preseason….

Cousins is not Tom Brady. But his coch is not putting this team in position to be successful.

I accepted that Zim was nothing more than a washed up DC years ago.

I’m over Zim. I moved to acceptance last year.

I’m also over Kirk. He needs to go. Its past time we realize that “decent” or “game manager” shouldnt also mean top salary.

I think Id hang onto Speileman at this point?  Though our lack of 1st round difference makers is starting to show. I almost wish they’d let someone else do the first pick and let slick rick handle the rest.

The theory dictates that an individual “moves on” to the next stage....

Ive been in “anger” since 1972 with the franchise.

With Zimmer......yeah.....anger

It's kinda like when you rekindle a relationship with an old flame and that old familiar shitty taste in your mouth returns.

I have been off the Zimmer bandwagon since the Philly debacle.

I do think he was a very good hire at the time but it is time to move on after this season - IMO.

a few of us said this and we were directed to injurues and lack of depth. the lack of dept was created by the same people who now use it as an excuse. Zim should have gone 2 years ago. this team will not and cannot win
