Vikings Tag Ant Man ™

That's the very first time I ever heard of the Vikings using the franchise tag on any player. Good move Vikes! Keep Ant Man here.

KC extension and now this -- two huge moves by Brez/RS.
Big boy stuff...
Awesome news, great decision by Rick with an assist to Brez.
smart move, at his age and limited success this give the team the opportunity to work a long term deal with better terms for the team, or at the very least another year of his service to see if he really is what they are paying for, but then his age will become a factor in any future deals so ... good timing for Rick.
I like this move better than the other one Rick made today haha. Good for Harris!
Don't shoot me but I would trade Harrison Smith.

The who would be Zimmer's WLB??
We'll see where it goes from here. This was a surprise given they didn't expect to get Cousins done by the tag deadline. They could opt to trade Ant, but I think the safety market has evolved as well where $11M for Harris was quite palatable. He was set to make considerably more per year as a free agent.
Rap keep harping on tag and trade as if it was a foregone conclusion.

@"JimmyinSD" said:They were literally going to let him walk for nothing outside of a potential 2021 comp pick. With the cap space they're better off trying to at least explore the potential to get something when he was going to be one of the hottest FA commodities on the market.@"BarrNone55" said: Rap keep harping on tag and trade as if it was a foregone conclusion. but why would they trade him without a viable replacement waiting in the wings? maybe if they could get Winfield, but then why would a team trade that pick for Harris when they could take Winfield and have him for more years at less money?
@"Geoff Nichols" said:but 11 for him isnt that much more than they would pay a street FA and Harris is ready to play day 1, what is he worth to a team in draft picks when they will still be on the hook for a high salary? I dont see a team offering more than that 3rd round compensatory pick when they still have to pay him and at his age... who knows how soon the wheels start to wobble? He is only 2 years younger than Harrison Smith. whats the market for good safeties on the back side of their careers?@"JimmyinSD" said:They were literally going to let him walk for nothing outside of a potential 2021 comp pick.
