Battle for RB3?

With that final pick Kwesi had the option of improving depth at TE3 or RB3. He chose TE3. To me, this was poor use of limited draft picks as RBs are the more valuable position. They're more frequently injured, which makes depth at that position more important & generally are used more frequently than TEs.

Let's take a look at the RBs that were drafted after Pick #202:

Pick #223 - Seattle drafted Damien Martinez, Miami (probably not a realistic option for us as his game is too similar to Mason's who is under contract in 2026)

Pick #228 - KC drafted Brashard Smith, Texas

Pick #236 - Jax drafted LeQuint Allen, Syracuse

Pick #245 - Wash. drafted Jacory Croskey Merritt, Arizona

If you look at the mocks leading up to the 2025 draft, all four of these RBs were projected to be selected higher & fell mostly due to the tremendous depth in the RB class.

Sigh. Couldn't agree more. And it doesn't help that Allen, JCM and Smith have been lighting up their respective camps, while the TE4 we drafted hasn't even practiced. I say TE4 because I think the Vikings were likely negotiating with Ben Yurosek before they even drafted Bartholomew.

I really liked Brashard Smith if we went RB Day 3.  Similar skillset to Aaron Jones with his wiggle and big play ability.  Really good receiver too.

I picked Smith for us in my predictions. But the late-round guy I liked even more was Jacory Croskey-Merritt. Went in the 7th round to Washington. Justin and I were watching the Shrine game and both came away wondering who the hell this kid was. He's getting a lot of buzz in DC right now.
