OT: Am I Just a Prude or are Celebrities Idiots?
Posted by: JimmyinSD - 08-24-2017, 01:07 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (18)

how many of you all have a nude photo of youself or your spouse/significant other on your phone or wireless devices?   seriously... in todays cyber attack world,  why the hell would anybody keep shit like that were its obviously not safe....especially celebs that have to know that they are being targeted at a much higher rate than the average joe or jane on the street.

I think its deplorable that people out there are profiting from this shit,  but at some point I have to say the celebs are somewhat at fault for leaving themselves so exposed. ( pun intended)

Mike Zimmer: Vikings facing 'tough' roster decisions along defensive line

Mike Zimmer: Vikings facing 'tough' roster decisions along defensive lineThere's enough talent among the defensive line hopefuls at Vikings training camp that making finals cuts in 10 days is going to be difficult, coach Mike Zimmer said.In 10 days, the Vikings will trim the 90-man roster by nearly half.
Some positions will make for easier decisions than others. One of the tougher areas to thin, according to head coach Mike Zimmer, will be the defensive line, which has been a strength of the roster for a couple years.
The decisions aren’t getting any easier with young players like defensive tackle Jaleel Johnson and defensive ends Tashawn Bower and Ifeadi Odenigbo playing well during two preseason games.
“There’s several [defensive line] spots I think we’re going to have some tough issues and that’s why it’s good to have the fourth preseason game,” Zimmer said Wednesday. “This week will be a big week again for a lot of these guys.”

Is the media Kapernicks biggest problem?
Posted by: JimmyinSD - 08-23-2017, 11:23 PM - Forum: Sensitive Topics - Replies (52)

as i was driving today i was hearing espns non stop blathering of some organized gathering outside the NFL headquarters to protest the fact that kapernick doesnt have a job....( even though he voluntarily left his last job while under contract )..... so i start wondering what the hell all these do gooders are going to do if he suddenly gets a job.   are they going to be staking out the practices and protesting if he isnt the starter?  are there going to be non stop interviews with his new teammates asking about his demeanor and professionalism?  will there be special news breaks throughout the day to give reports on his progress?

if his politics were a hang up for some owners, for some it may be,  but others I think just dont want to deal with the distraction,  but even if he agreed to stop that shit IMO he has become untouchable because of the circus that will surely follow him and the fact that his talents have been so over stated that if he wasnt handed a starting job there would likely be rioting at that teams headquarters.

Didn't spend much time on Tomasson's questions.  Yikes.

Is TJ Clemmings On the Way Out?
Posted by: purplefaithful - 08-23-2017, 02:38 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (14)

One news item that was not widely circulated on Friday- or at least I didn’t notice it- was that T.J. Clemmings was a healthy scratch for the Vikings at Seattle.
Pro Football Focus reported that Clemmings was benched for Friday night’s gameagainst the Seahawks, which begs the question why?

  OFFENSIVE LINE OPTIMISM
Posted by: purplefaithful - 08-23-2017, 02:26 PM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (3)

A year ago, Zimmer said, he was optimistic that his offensive line was in good shape entering the season
“And then the titanic crashed,” he said.
Injuries to nearly every starter began in training camp and never stopped, a large reason for Minnesota’s failure to make the playoffs. After a 5-0 start, the Vikings lost eight of its final 11 games, and finished dead last in rushing among 32 NFL teams, averaging 75.3 yards a game.
That’s why Zimmer is curbing his enthusiasm on this year’s rebuilt unit, which appears close to set with rookie Pat Elflein possibly starting at center, and either Joe Berger or Nick Easton at right guard.

Vikings likely to keep three quarterbacks on active roster
Posted by: purplefaithful - 08-23-2017, 02:24 PM - Forum: The Longship - No Replies

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer and offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur know they need someone to back up starting quarterback Sam Bradford. The question is: Do they need more than one?
Vikings coaches are trying to decide whether to keep three quarterbacks on the active roster or whether to place one of them on the practice squad, even if risks losing that player on waivers.
“I think it’s extremely important that you’re always developing quarterbacks,” Shurmur said. “You just never know how it’s all going to play out.”

Shurmur says no limits on roles for Dalvin Cook and Latavius Murray

Vikings' Pat Shurmur says no limits on roles for Dalvin Cook and Latavius MurrayWhen asked if Murray, taller and heavier than Cook, would be more suitable for short-yardage situations, offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur dodged the labels.
Before seeing Latavius Murray play a game in a Vikings uniform, offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur says he’s not going to limit the veteran running back’s potential role in his offense.

The same goes for rookie Dalvin Cook. When asked if Murray, listed four inches taller and 17 pounds heavier than Cook, would be more suitable for short-yardage situations, Shurmur dodged the labels.
“I think they both can play on all three downs,” Shurmur said. “From a play calling standpoint, that gives you great flexibility. It doesn't matter who's in there.”

  Rookie QB Deshone Kizer
Posted by: StickyBun - 08-23-2017, 11:55 AM - Forum: The Longship - Replies (2)

The team just named him starter for the all important game 3 of preseason: I think its a good move on the Brown's part. Why not? He's been impressing since he got into their facility. They know 2017 is going to be a developmental year for the whole team. If the kid can handle this game as he's handled everything else, wouldn't be surprised to see him start the regular season. This is his audition.

If Cleveland can hit on the all important QB spot in the NFL, it makes their whole 'Money Ball' experiment a ton easier to implement.
