Cousins is not the answer

I think that was evident last season when Thielen blew up at KC on the sideline.I'm not saying this because of today. I'm saying it based on his 10-10 record as a Viking anf his stint in Washington. He's a .500 QB that looks good beating up on bad teams when he has plenty of time to throw, and shits the bed when he faces adversity.
Today he bailed out of clean pockets early. He missed open WRs, held ball too long, and didn't pull the trigger when he should have and got crushed. And the fumbles are worse than Daunte's.
But he's been doing this his whole career, and Redskins let him walk for nothing. Now we see why.
Vikings need to target QB early in 2020 draft.
He's got zero ability to reset...the anti-Chase...
Yeah. I am done.
In games like this you need a Favre, not a Ponder.
KC sucks.
@"StickyBun" said:@"Ralphie" said: 6 sacks and 40 yards rushing. KC is the reason we lost undoubtedly. There's merit there, Ralphie. I just don't think Cousins is the type of guy to elevate anything when Minnesota plays good football teams. And if that's the case, the team took a big swing and missed on him so its time to plan for this exit after that 3rd year of his guaranteed contract this offseason in the Draft.Nothing to be done now other than ride it out. His contract prohibits anything else.
Sticky, I am well aware of KC" s limitations overall. But today the Bears whipped this "new and improved" OL like a red-headed step child. It wasn't until the 4th quarter Stefanski went no huddle and quick passes to keep the rush off Kirk. That is on the coaches not KC.
@"Bullazin" said: Nagy owned us today.Umm that's the third time he has outcoached Zim.
@"Ralphie" said: Sorry boys. Not jumping on the KC sucks bandwagon. The play calling today has been abysmal. Not seeing what is happening and finding a way to counter it is not on Kirk.Add the brutal penalties and this one is on the guys wearing the headsets.
I've got one leg on the bandwagon. But I still think there is more to KC's failures than meets the eye. It seems like he never throws to a receiver unless the receiver is wide open. That's on Zimmer for putting the fear of the turnover into him. I can't imagine trying to "make plays", when you're always afraid. Then there is the OL. I used to be in the "Elf will be fine" camp. Nope. And Bradbury isn't exactly setting the world on fire... but he's a rookie. Overall he's "OK". But, against Chicago, we need better than OK. Our run blocking scheme was demolished today... and our OL couldn't protect KC. Of course, it didn't help that Cousins was spooked even when there wasn't anyone near him. Then there's Diggs fumbling... and, overall, just getting out-coached and out-played. Chicago is the better team.
Getting back to KC: I've tried to defend him... but I'm running out of excuses. He really does look like the QB that everyone has said he was. He can teach our first round draft pick (next year)... and then sail off to be the backup for someone else.
I'm torn.
Aaron Rodgers looked terrible against Chicago 3 weeks ago. Almost as bad as Kirk. They did the same thing to the Rams offense last year when that thing was unstoppable. The Bears D is ELITE.
Cousins played like crap but so did practically everyone on offense besides Dalvin. So I'm not putting this entire loss on Kirk.
That said, I definitely think we need to draft a QB this year. And it's very much up for debate whether you want the current regime making that selection. I want to see more this season before I slam the "fire everyone" button, but man losing all these big games is getting old.

wait??? KC has the fear of the turnover put in him? wtf would he look like if he didnt have said fear of the turnover?

The OL got owned the entire game but I still believe that Cousins will NEVER lead this team anywhere but to Averageville. He tightens up every time they play a good team. Gonna be a long year folks.

I'll put a bow on this for everyone. Kirk has turned into Wade Wilson. That hard fake in the 2nd Quarter, where he rolls right and has not one fucking defender within 7 yards, and checks it down to CJ for what, 3 yards?
He's toast mentally. And so is this team.
In a few scant seasons Chicago has created an inarguably better Defense than Rick & Zimmer, who've had several more years of high draft picks and big contract extensions at their disposal.
I don't want to hear shit about 'they only gave up 16 points'. How many negative yardage plays did this vaunted Defense that was completely healthy generate? How many turnovers? How many field-position changing drives did they give up?
This Defense doesn't change games, despite all the capital invested in it. They just 'manage' them.
And the Offense? Pathetic. The same backup QB that was consistently moving the ball against the so-called Defensive Guru was executing misdirection for easy, open 3-4 yard plays in its sleep. The $84 Million Dollar QB with the better weapons couldn't even do that.
Not that the playcalling had much of that stuff in there. Run up the gut, get stuffed. Rinse and repeat. Then try and keep a clean pocket on 3rd and long. Over and over and over again.
Stefanski didn't even try to truly change things up until the late-game shotgun looks. Either because he's an idiot or because Zimmer wouldn't allow it.
And how about that shitty Offensive Line? Bears built a better one that kept their backup QB cleaner in what, 3 years? Less?
Rick Spielman is mediocre. Mike Zimmer is mediocre. Know how I know? They beat most crappy teams at home and on the road. They beat some good teams at home. They lose to good teams on the road nearly every fucking time.
Folks, that's mediocre. Every single flaw that was exposed in the NFCCG drubbing was supposedly addressed. And they still can't beat any good teams on the road. That's mediocrity. And I'm sad to say that appears to be good enough for the Wilfs.
The Bears have better Lines, Coaches and Decision-makers. If they ever get the QB right they might actually do more than just own Minnesota.
The sad part is how I keep thinking that somehow this year's gonna be different. Every. Single. Year. I'll keep watching because my ancestors have cursed me with this burden. But I am well and truly done defending anything related to this franchise....
Until next week!

I got nothing more to add. You summed it all pretty well. We need to clean house. Rick and Zim have reached their ceiling
We definitely are not getting maximum return from the talent on the field...

FSU, I agree with most of what you said. I would say that the Bears don't have just a great D, they weaponize them. They play hyper-aggressive. They play that when the ball is snapped, it's just as much theirs as the O's.
You are correct that our D is very good but regrettably not against solid O-lines. They do play to "manage" the game. Most teams would have salivated playing against a backup QB. Yet he played better than their starter. Opportunity lost.
And here we go.

Apparently you state these things more delicately than I do. I. AGREE. 100%
I appreciate your very thorough overview of this team.....I've been stating these very thoughts for the past 10+ years, and aside from the obvious anomaly of 2017 and Keenum's well-documented "horse shoe up his ass", I have been proven correct.
Ironically, today's loss was truly a game that was ol' Zimmer's "cup of tea"....ya know, very little OFFENSE/SCORING.
Too bad he and his team choked on that "cuppa"....AGAIN.
DICKY and MICKY gotta GO!!
Thielen post game: you have to be able to hit receivers. you have to be able to throw the deep ball.
lockerroom trouble brewing.
