“Well, I have like a million reasons to be mad at any given moment, so I just pick one of them,” Samia said. “You definitely need to be mad because (linemen) are the ones that make contact every single play.”
Pressed for what makes him angry, Samia demurred.
“You guys don’t get to know that,” he said. “That’s my little secret.”
It has worked wonders so far. Samia started four seasons at Oklahoma and was named a second-team All-American last season after blocking for the No. 1 overall pick, quarterback Kyler Murray.
“He fits the zone scheme very well,” Spielman said of Samia. “He was the highest-rated player on our board at the time, and we were going to stay true to our board, and continue to add to that competition on the offensive line.”

As long as he can keep from stepping over the line, he definitely has that tough guy mentality that Zimmer likes in his offensive linemen.

That's the thing: no boneheaded penalties. And its the NFL, guys he is going against are bigger and stronger. He's got the right idea as he's up to 311 lbs. via strength training, he needs to put on another 5 of muscle. He's got things to work on, he was a 4th rounder initially for a reason. I like him very much in the mix next season.

It might be a give and take until he dials it in. And I'll take the penalties in exchange for the attitude he should inject into the offensive line. How many unsportsmanlike conduct penalties do you ever see from an OL anyway? When it comes to OL, the holding and false starts are what kill you and I don't know that he has a problem with that.

And I love the "next play" mentality.  He didn't retaliate for getting beat on that play, but drove the guy to the ground on the next play.  All good and legal.

Watch the whole clip...  He throws him down and then gives him a yank backwards when they are on the ground.  Stuff like that will get flagged if it happens too often.

There's a difference between being tough (imposing your will and throwing him down) and being dirty (going for heads or yanking guys backwards where they can get hurt).

Hard to tell.  I thought that was the guy on the ground retaliating, but watching again, you may be right.

I hope he dispels the ghost of Alex Boone in my head...Everytime I hear an OL yapping now, that's where my mind goes.

Well...  we'll see see.  The difference I see between Boone and Samia is that the former seemed like more of a loud mouth in front of a camera and the latter is a tough SOB on the field.

Personally, I think every offensive line needs an "enforcer"...  Samia has that personality.  I saw one clip this offseason where Murray got flattened and the defender gave him a little extra at the end.  Samia came over and ripped the defender off and went after him.  I like that.  Protect your QB.  Just don't cross the line when it's not necessary.

I think he'll be a good pick and eventual starter (maybe even at some point this year).

I love his attitude. He has all the tools and mental make up you want in an NFL guard. I just hope he can keep his cool and not get that 15 yard penalty for firing back at a defender for getting in his face.
Him and Bradbury will play so well with each other. This line can be nasty.

exactly.  Boone was the speak loudly and carry little stick.

If Samia brings some of that attitude to defend his QB, I say finally.

Me too. I think O'Neill brings some nasty also. Unfortunately, Easton did but he's gone. I think Bradbury can play that way. Not sure about Kline and I've never seen Reiff be like that.

Dakota Dozier has a very nasty rep. But I'm still a little baffled by that signing. He doesn't fit the athletic/zone profile at all.

I thought I read that Dozier has a history with the Kubiaks or Dennison somehow and was handpicked for the line to some extent? I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was something like that....

Elf showed a bit his rookie year as well.
Reiff has never seemed to be that way, but was credited helping change the culture of the o-line after we released Boone and other unnamed over-paid and under-performing linemen.  He has the quiet work ethic, don't talk, just do your job.  Lunch pail I think was the term to describe him.  Boone was more the "bar at closing" type.

I really believe the Vikings have finally established a core of offensive linemen and depth...

Dobler used to get one forearm/hand wrapped in tape and plaster (because it was "injured") in a big wad with a ball around the hand , then he'd swing it around and club guys with it during games.

He played for Dennison last year with the Jets. Former 4th Round pick that hasn't developed yet.

Sneaky signing. Look at the good Lines in the League and you will see at least one guy who's on his second or third team that let him walk that wasn't a high profile signing.

That Eagles Line that won the SB had Weisnewski on like his fourth team and Brooks (former 4th Rounder) that Houston let walk. Glowinski with Indy is another example. So's that fat LT that NE won a ring with that just cashed in during FA. And there's literally at least a dozen more examples.

I'm not saying Dozier will even make the team but you should always swing the bat with guys like this every chance you get.
