Can anyone blame Stefanski? They pass over him for Flip and the offensive line stinks. Good on him for moving on. The rumor is that this is Stefanski's choice, not the Vikings

Mike Mularkey as a possibility is curious. There seems to be quite a bit of competition because several teams are looking. I wonder who takes the job here knowing that the coach is in his last season unless he gets extended.

Can't find anything to back up the claim...regardless, it's going to be difficult to get anyone in here with Zim on his last year and his track record with OCs...

Anyone taking this job- with Mike a "lame duck" (not sure that he really is)- knows that they'll have a chance to become the HC if Zimmer is ultimately fired.
It's really tough sometimes to find out what's real and what's speculation. I guess we'll have to wait and see on this one. And that's a good point Pumpf about a new hire having a chance at being the HC the following season. There is also some speculation about a 1 year extension for Zimmer to help the appeal of the job openings here.

Mularkey seems like a perfect fit with Zimmer, both been around the block a few times. Didnt Mularkey have a Steeler connection too? Strong running game/OL history there.
Look, I don't blame KS for leaving either. But we really dont know the inside scoop of what happened the past year and before. Maybe it wasn't his choice? We dont know and its none of our biz.
The Vikings OC job is a good one for many reasons - including a decent qb, tail-back, WR's and an OL that should be able to turn around rather quickly with some smart acquisitions.
I see glass 1/2 full here, not empty.
If the source is Charley Walters, this should really be taken with a grain of salt. He’s never been the most reliable of sources.

Yep, TE. For those who don't know, he was the OC for the Steelers when they had Slash (and is generally given credit for that innovation). Prior to that he coach OL and TE in college and with Tampa Bay. He then went on to be the HC for Buffalo... and got torpedoed by some of his assistant coaches. Then he was the OC with Atlanta (when Matt Ryan was good... which, I guess, he still is). From there he went on to be the HC for Jacksonville (1 year and then they ditched him) and Tennessee (which he made into a playoff team in a little over a year- and then got dumped for it, because he refused to fire one of his assistant coaches). If Zimmer wants "loyalty", he would certainly find it in Mularkey: the guy would rather be fired than to be disloyal to one of his coaches.Personally, I think he'd be great (and a great fit for what Zimmer wants to do). But he'll fail- as will anyone else- if we don't upgrade the OL. Maybe he can help coach it?
Love to see us get Mularkey. I remember being envious of the offenses he coordinated when we were struggling offensively. Had a couple seasons when he was recognized as one of the best OCs in football. His creativity in Pittsburgh got him a series of HC opportunities, which didn't really work out for him, but then he won Assistant Coach of the Year in '08, then OC of the year in '10.
We might stand a decent chance given the weapons in Minnesota and the fact that he spent his first six years in the NFL in Minnesota, then his first coaching gig was in St. Paul for Concordia.
It's also being reported that if Mularkey is the hire that he might bring Russ Grimm in as the O-Line coach, which if true would be big.
Russ Grimm has experience, and he has it in spades. After an outstanding career as part of the legendary “Hogs” that won three Super Bowls for the Washington Redskins, Grimm retired and joined the coaching ranks. He’s been an offensive line coach for four different teams. . .the Redskins, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Arizona Cardinals, and the Tennessee Titans. . .and has been nothing short of outstanding in all of those spots. When Mularkey took over as the coach of the Titans in 2016, he brought Grimm with him to coach the offensive line, and he transformed the Titans’ offensive line from one of the NFL’s worst to one of its best.

I would love a good break to come the Vikings way. Ah man, it's a frustrating roller coaster sifting through the speculation and the actual details.
