The Minneapolis Star-Tribune's Ben Goessling reports the Vikings "plan" to have Dalvin Cook (hamstring) active and play "limited" reps Week 9 against the Lions. We're not sure why the Vikings plan to rush Cook out there with the bye next week, especially with Latavius Murray producing like a top-10 back the last month, but it is what it is. Ultimately, we expect Murray to remain the lead dog with Cook mixing in to knock some rust off and feel good heading into the open date ahead of the stretch run. Murray is still an RB2. Cook will be desperation RB3/FLEX. Murray owners can remain confident in starting him.

Me: Yeah, I'm not sure either. This is batshit crazy in my opinion. Just sit him down, and get the two-fer, so there are no questions about his health and there are no limitations.

If the coaching staff and Dalvin feel he's ready, far be it for me to say he's not, bye week upcoming or not. Are we supposed to put him on the bench forever and say we can't live without him if he went down?? C'mon, we have been living without him....
Injuries are the bane of every NFL teams' roster. There's no avoiding them and there's no planning for them, either. I have no problem if  they do put him on the shelf this week too but I'm not going to crucify them if they put him in the game for a few series...no way they ride that horse for 25 carries, you know...
Also, I will just say I hope they find a way to keep Latavius on the roster next season. I think they better.

He looked really good and didn't appear to tweak anything. Thank God! Still, it was a foolish risk to play him with the bye week coming up.

If he was 100% (which he certainly appeared to be) I don't see it as foolish.  He now has 2 weeks to recover from his first real action.  So it may have been a great plan.

Wow, he looked great! Hopefully he feels alright tomorrow and we're ready to roll in Chicago in 2 weeks.

A healthy Cook can have such a huge halo effect on this offense. Cousins has to be optimistic about the backfield with what he saw yesterday.

We forget, KC is about as good as it gets with play action too...

Cook is dynamic, much more so than Murray. He's needed if Minnesota can make the playoffs and play against the NFC elite.

Luckily, Cook showed he's ready to play and came out of the game with no tweaks, twists or pulls.  Going into the bye week and Cook have a boost of confidence, he should be ready to play the rest of the season with a full head of steam and no worries over his knee and hammy.

They clocked him at 22 mph on that 70 yard run. I couldn't believe how fast he looked. I thought his hamstring was going to explode on that play.

Yesterday went a long way to lift some worry about Cook. I'm concerned he left a lot of tread back at FSU, and it's still hard not to wish we had picked Kamara or Hunt.

And I was saying he had to take back the starter roll from Murray. I once again showed my brilliance. How do I do it.
