Yes!!! The move needed to be made. Maybe they try to sign Carlson to the Practice Squad and give him another shot next year.

Vikings snag top free agent kicker Dan Bailey

Bailey is quite literally one of the best kickers in NFL history, boasting the second-best conversion rate (88.2) of all time. He did that in Dallas' dome and will be remaining indoors in Minnesota. The upgrade from rookie Daniel Carlson is impossibly large for a team with championship aspirations. Bailey will immediately slot back in as a top-10 weekly kicker in fantasy.
Wow, huge surprise - NOT! B)
Welcome to the team, Mr. Baily - SKOL!
And just like that. My post in a separate thread saying they have to is obsolete minutes after I posted it...lol
Had to be done.
Where the hell is that dancing banana when you need it???????? AWESOME NEWS!!!!!!
Rick ain't messing around.
I wish they had gone for the TD at the end of OT, but it was almost like they wanted to see if he could be salvaged.
Now, if we only had a time machine taking us back to yesterday around noon or so.

I think that's spot on. With OT ending, we were assured of keeping GB from winning (so we were going to stay even with them in the division race) so Carlson was allowed to either keep himself alive (he would have come out of the game with an emotional boost if he kicked the game-winning FG) or to pound the final nail in his own coffin. Turns out he hit that nail better than any of his kicks.
Does Carlson push Walsh a bit out of our collective Viking memory now, or will we forget the "Carlson Era" too quickly?
As I said yesterday. Sing it with me!
"Won't you come home, Dan Bailey? Won't you come home!"
if only we had been playing dropping bombs in the first half like they were in the second! Damn... let Zylstra or Beebe play for our WRs.
Yes needed to be done Carlson to practice squad try to salvage him
Pleasantly surprised with this move. Zero downside. I'm just a little shocked they moved so quickly, but he missed 3 FGs.....all brutal. Carlson even mentions that last FG he was suffering a lack of confidence. Tough words but honest ones. Can't have that kind of liability at that position.
...and why was Bailey sitting on the street again?
Halle-fucking-lujah. Way to go Brez making the money work.

The guy has already made $13 million in his career, could afford to be picky. 30 years old, lots of years left in him. Keeps himself in great shape.

Cap casualty...
The Dallas Cowboys have cut the best kicker in franchise history.
The team released Dan Bailey on Saturday.
It was a stunning move from the Cowboys, who signed the ultra-accurate Bailey to a seven-year $22.5 million contract in 2014. He had three years left on the deal. The move saves the Cowboys $3.4 million on the salary cap.
