Made the right choice in not playing Cook, as I thought. No reason to yet.

considering our OL did a good job in the run game I am not sure how it could be said that it was the right choice since we havent seen Cook run yet against people wanting to actually hit him.  the big argument against playing him was the OL would be a mess,  but they did a damn good job IMO.

if its going to happen its going to happen,  if he gets hurt he gets hurt,  its football... if they worried about getting hurt they would be playing golf or tennis.

I trust the staff is seeing enough in camp to feel good about his progress without playing game 1. Getting the right day on/day off pitch count going.

Plus they probably thought hell we've got scrimmages with the Jags D this week and then playing them again Game 2.

Probably enough to knock any rust off of DC.

Its the right choice because its what the coaches wanted to do and thought best....not what the fans might want. I knew there was 0.0% chance he'd play. Silly to and risk injury. He'll get in soon enough, maybe even Saturday.

thats retarded.  so you are saying what ever the coaches do is right?  there is nothing shown thus far that it was the right choice,  nor is there any evidence to the contrary.  up to this point it is simply a decision.

as far as risking injury... why play anybody?  again a rather questionable comment.  is DC somehow more susceptible to injury in preseason game 1 than he would be in game 2?  is he more valuable than any of the other starters that he would be riskier to lose? if they are holding him out because of fear of injury then he should be limited in practice and be wearing a protective device on that knee.

i would say in hindsight it would be more likely to say they should have gotten him out there but with the unsettled OL that it caused them to error on the side of caution,  but it likely wasnt the right decision.

Great question & thread...

Von Miller sure has no answers

“ Stretched, went through the whole pregame warmup. a call came from upstairs that wasn’t going to play.”

& the day before from his Head Coach...

” He’s totally healthy,” Joseph said. “He’s had a great camp, and we have no reason not to play Von. Von’s in good health and good spirits, so why not?”

Sooooooo... maybe Cook was not in good spirits ?

I would like for him to have a few touches to just get a feel for a real defense again. He doesn't need to grind and grind away to get back to speed, but a touch or two would in a real game would probably help heading into the season.

I'm not sure how much of a rush this (to get him on the field) actually is though... Latavius Murray is playing pretty well, he looks fresher than last year coming off his ankle/foot injury. I actually wonder how many more preseason snaps he needs at this point. And if they have to play, I think i'd like so see them split a small number of reps early and then just play Roc Thomas and Mike Boone for the rest of way.

Whatever happens with Cook, we should be considering the injury risk for the other halfback that ultimately carried the load last year. There's no reason to straddle Murray with extra or unnecessary touches.
