Report: DT Sheldon Richardson visiting Vikings
Thanks SD, i would probably pop in time to time. But it may take a while for it to wear off. Brian restructured last year and took a pay cut then to help the team. I was hoping that he could finish here but RS is making it awfully hard. That said what's all the excitment over a guy who's only had 2.5 sacks over the past 2 years?
I know you guys have nothing to do with it. Oh well, whatever will be will be.
Oh Yeah, completely forgot they asked BRob to restructure last year. Tacky to do it again.
I'm still wondering what Treadwell brings to the table, and why his $ isn't re-evaluated...or job for that matter
After reading the vikes have 24 million left in cap space maybe this is a done deal. What I read said the 24 million includes Simeon and the 2018 rookies. 15 million still seems high though.

there is talk about restructuring brobs deal but ive yet to see it from the vikings line we have on the murry deal.

Hell more than one because he has done whatever is asked of him. I am so glad I got to meet you. You are so funny and an all around good guy. Brian has had a huge impact on the team and community.

I checked on this yesterday and Treadwell 's dead money if cut would be almost 5.8 mil, which, I assume, is why they aren't willing to cut him. But I agree, I'd much rather have BRob on this team another season.
love you pops and love brob. i want richardson, but i hope brob gets to stay!
wright and murray both can reduce way before brob

Cutting him would cost the Vikings $2.5 million in cap space if it happened prior to June 1st. After June 1st, it would still cost them $1.2 million.
I guess that's a polite way of saying that I'm happy you aren't in charge of the Vikings' salary cap or roster moves.
Thanks for the numbers...here's a couple more.
21 catches for 215 yards in two years.
Im sorry to say
At at what point does potential take a back seat to production?
I'd love to see BRob in a 3 man even rotation at DE, get him reps on both sides and lighten the load of Hunter and Griff. Too many snaps on them last year and too much time in the middle for Brian IMO.
Pops— i hear ya. There should be no restucture for Brian. Been there, done that. unless (and this is probably too wacky) he is resigned as a player/ coach and the salary is split between the two titles. I mean, I want him to stick around after this year anyway as a coach. so, why not get his feet wet this year? we’ve had player/coaches in basketball and baseball so....
I hate the business side when great vets get caught up in possibly losing out by a pay cut or roster cut but it's the ugly reality of trying to build the best team possible ear to year within the cap constraints. I have to think there are other areas they could cut or get creative but I suppose at some point Brian becomes the logical roster spot in jeopardy.
That side of the game sucks, they should give a certain exemption for long term vets, guys that have been with a team 10+ years should somehow get an exemption/cap reduction of some sort(QB's not included though IMO). Exempt the first 5 million for guys who have been with the team continuously for 10 years or more. What a great way to promote that type of relationship and commitment that the NFL should strive for.
What ever happens for Brian to have had an 11+ year career in the NFL is remarkable and something to be extremely proud of.

So cut him and eat $2.5 million? You still have to pay his replacement. At the end of the day, Thielen and Diggs are going to get the majority of snaps. You still have Wright under contract and they would eat $2.1 million cutting him.
They'll open next season with Thielen, Diggs, Wright, and Treadwell. It makes zero sense to cut Wright or Treadwell when it won't free up any money and any player who replaces them for cheap won't see many snaps.
unfortunately that is how the game of contracts is played players sign knowing full well they might be asked to give back a portion of the later years on the deal. It's the least favorite part of being a fan that loves the players. Hope Brob isn't put into the spot of giving even more back in order to finish his career with the Vikes.

I know you guys have nothing to do with it. Oh well, whatever will be will be.Brian has been one of my favorite players since he was drafted. He's the type of guy who makes everyone around him better through those intangibles that are hard to describe but you know it when you see it.
That said, he's reaching that twilight of his career where letting go is hard for players, fans, and family alike. If I had to choose a 27-year-old Sheldon Richardson, who has that Geno Atkins/Kevin Williams potential in a Zimmer defense, versus a 35-year-old defensive end who is more of a rotational player at this point... I'd begrudgingly take Richardson. It sucks, but it's the way of the world when so much money is involved.
I hope he can stay on good terms with the Vikings and that it doesn't get personal. Similar to Leber and Greenway, he's a guy who I hope to see involved with the fans and community even after he retires. You raised a good boy, Pops.

Yeah...I get the money side of it, which is why it's so frustrating.
we are handcuffed to him, (and roster spot) while they ask productive players to take pay cuts.
Financially you're right, it makes no sense...just like asking productive vets to "take one for the team"
@"Vikeking2" said: why do we still have fans questioning if we will pay someone. we just gave the largest contract ever to a qb, fully guaranteed. we paid favre 40 million for 2 seasons. we paid Jared allen, Harrison Smith, and rhodes with top contracts at their position.we arent scared to pay anyone. fans that think so come across as masochists that just want to wallow in self doubt or pity.
if we like a guy, and can pay him, we will!
You didn't even mention the 12 mil for 3 years they wasted on AP even if he did lead the league in rushing on the one he was not suspended.
They just could not foresee that AP would not be a good fit with Teddy.
