Report: DT Sheldon Richardson visiting Vikings
@"MaroonBells" said:@"Purple Haze" said: Maybe but 11 million is almost Linval money and he is a pro bowl caliber player. Richardson has 2.5 sacks in the last 2 seasons combined. I'm getting the feeling a few of us don't quite know who Sheldon Richardson is. Don't get hung up on stats. As a 3T he's a prototype. Equally adept at rushing the passer and stopping the run, he's frequently double teamed. He's been the focus of every offensive line he's played against. He was drafted 13th overall in 2013, and after his DROY rookie season, in all redrafts I can recall he was re-slotted #1 overall. He made the Pro Bowl the following year. He's had some off-field issues and was suspended for a stretch, but this is a pro bowl caliber player. And in our defense, he would absolutely dominate. Trust me, if we can pull this off...to paraphrase Kirk Cousins, YOU LIKE THIS!I get that and realize the potential but as far as negotiating a contract the off the field issues, the talk of him being able to dominate when he wants too and his lack of stats dont add up to 11 million a year. It all may be a mute point anyway, reports are he turned down 11 million because he wants 15 million. Thats beyond Linval money, thats top five money. If they can work out an 8 million dollar contract with 3 million in incentives Im all for it.

Yes, but also good players make other players better. Diggs wouldn't be the player he is without Thielen on the other side. And vice versa. Good corners boost the stats of edge rushers, and vice versa. I'm a BIG believer in synergy. We had the #1 defense last year without a much of a presence at 3T. Richardson will make everyone around him more effective. And they him.I'm not going to get my hopes up too much because pulling this off will be a big climb.
Two fireplaces in locker room, with deep purple low pile carpeting, hot wings, donuts....New stadium with
a painting of Prince on velvet....C'Mon...what else could you want?
also, turns out Speilman flew to get Richardson and flew back with him then drove him to facility.
ill say it again. Done Deal. this aint the negotiate with scrub TJ Housmanzadah. we wont let Sheldon out the door.

..and another thing. You ask any QB, where do they hate getting pressure the most. Up the middle. Scares the shit out of 'em. They can't step up. That's why Zimmer uses the double A gap blitz so much. A 3T who requires a double team is going to make the double A gap every QB's worst nightmare. You want to see Erin pee down her leg, this will do it.
Ya had me right up until the prince "when doves cry" playing on a loop
If this is a "done deal" then I'll say good bye now.

If we can get another brutal tackle and make a great D even better, and keep the key players (I include BROB in that), isn't that a positive...?

I think he's thinking it probably spells the end for BRob.
I'm guessing that means they'd ask BRob to restructure

They are wanting Brian to take a pay cut so they can sign these other guys, screw that, BRob earned his paycheck and always has, maybe if they want to do some cleaving why dont they hit up the higher payed guys? Maybe that new QB wants to give a little back to help put better players around him?
@"96POPS" said: If this is a "done deal" then I'll say good bye now.Hope not, Pops. The D would be better with both guys on the team. I think Richardson would also help #96 "set the hook" a few more times than last season.
@"Purple Haze" said: Unless he really wants out of Seattle, he wont be in Minnesota long. Read on pro football talk that Seattle has offered him 11 million a year. No way the vikings pay that.
Why's that again?
I gather more players than Latavius Murray have been approached about restructuring their contracts. Or maybe a new 3T means fewer snaps for Robison. Sounds like Brian would rather be released?
If I'm dropping ANYONE /salary it would be Treadwell.
im sure lots of guys are gonna be asked for restructures. we are prob signing Richardson and locking up two key in house free agents. then budget fill rest of roster. guys restructuring helps the team out with that.
having said that, i dont talk about other peoples money, and would never judge someone opposing a pay cut.
Pops you are a great guy and was glad to meet you, I would hope you would still stop by because you know that eventually when BRob is done playing he will still be a favorite here. In my eyes as I am sure many others BRob will always be a Viking no matter where he plays his last game.
