OT: Matt Lauer canned at NBC for inappropriate workplace behavior
JFC...how fucking hard is it to not act like a fucking tool at work?
@"BarrNone55" said: JFC...how fucking hard is it to not act like a fucking tool at work?My wife is a NBC Today show watcher....apparently, there were rumors for years about Lauer.
To your point: I don't get it. Its seems like normal operating procedure to not act like a f#$%ing goon at work.
All workplaces are requireD by law to have an anti sexual harassment poster posted. Many require their employees to sign a anti sexual harassment policy....mine is annually. If these idiots are falling for actions in the last 20 years or so it's on them, no excuses.
However, how many of these claims are from women who tried to use sex to get ahead and are now trying to use the same act as a chance for a payday or at least a parting shot? I am not making the "she asked for it by dressing that way" arguement. I am saying there are likely plenty who have used sex as a tool that are now making claims.
It is irresponsible to discuss women who have used sex as a tool in these situations.
Innocent until proven guilty ... but in these cases coming out there appears to be legitimate victims.
I don't get men who treat women this way.
I think a lot of men think a position of power or title makes them attractive to women to the point they abuse the position. They convince themselves that the feelings are mutual or that they are being led in that direction by the women. I am sure Lauer thought he was untouchable...pun intended :) Abuse of power comes in many forms and sexual harassment is very common - IMO. I have been in the corporate world for 30 years and have seen it in action. Bullying is also common. So it is like high school in some respects :)

Or women that treat men this way.
Funny how Mariah Carey isn't in these conversations? Double standard?
Is she a member of the fourth estate or one of the branches of government?
Crazy. I live my life by a pretty simple set of rules...
1) Be a good human...
2) Don't do things that are destructive to others. Apply destructive to any and all scenarios.
Some of these dudes are pretty high on power. I've met a few in my industry, and have had some pretty challenging situations arise because of people in power forgetting Rules 1 & 2.
Because I'm a Star Wars dork... I've found some folks are Anakin than Luke, and more easily seduced to the Dark Side (ie: being an asshole).
Now its Garrison Keillor, fired now from Minnesota public radio over allegations of inappropriate behavior

Seriously? I hadn't seen that (yet)...
Shit is just crazy...it's like everyday a new batch of allegations.
Oh there are a LOT more coming down the pike. A LOT more and many MANY big names are going to drop.

Apparently it's quite difficult for some. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
Tell me again why we should listen to anything the entertainment industry says in regards to morality? Such an industry riddled with predators and open "secrets" has no business preaching to the rest of us who do not act this way.
And with this shitty behavior it will or has already come down to the fools that will cry wolf..."it's the media stirring shit"! That's a fucking cop out and a poor judgement of character. I've worked as a Salon owner and stylist for nearly 30 yrs and there's not a single time I did an inappropriate thing with a female client and I am straight! These predators if found to be guilty are getting what they deserve!

Garrison Keillor fired by MPR: 'I put my hand on a woman's bare back,' he saysGarrison Keillor, whose soothing voice and gentle humor helped define the world’s view of Minnesota, has been dropped by Minnesota Public Radio for “inappropriate behavior” toward a co-worker.
MPR said Wednesday it is severing all ties to the longtime host of radio’s “A Prairie Home Companion.” The show, which he handed off last year to hand-picked successor Chris Thile, will be retitled — Keillor holds the trademark — and his old broadcasts no longer will be aired.
Officials at the network would not comment beyond a statement saying they were notified last month of allegations relating to Keillor’s conduct while he was responsible for producing “PHC.”
“I put my hand on a woman’s bare back,” he told the Star Tribune by e-mail minutes after MPR’s statement. “I meant to pat her back after she told me about her unhappiness and her shirt was open and my hand went up it about six inches. She recoiled. I apologized. I sent her an email of apology later and she replied that she had forgiven me and not to think about it. We were friends. We continued to be friendly right up until her lawyer called.”
The 75-year-old humorist who helped build MPR into a dynasty seemed more resigned and defensive than apologetic.

So, are NBC viewers ready to get Megyn Kelly inflicted on them for the entire 3 hours every day? On the plus side, hopefully then she'll be too busy to ruin any more Dateline episodes.
A woman I worked with but didn't really know very well came into my office once and with a wink and a smile described a particular sexual act. I probably should've gone to HR.
Instead I married her. She's the mother of my kids.
