No, Larry Fitzgerald did not retire because of Kyler Murray. He officially stepped away from the NFL after playing 17 seasons with the Arizona Cardinals because he simply lost the desire to continue playing. [1, 2, 3]

While rumors circulated connecting his retirement to the young quarterback, Fitzgerald directly addressed and dismissed those claims. He maintained that he never had a problem with Murray or any teammate, instead stepping away because he had accomplished everything he wanted in his career.

What’s funny about this thread, is that people are already talking about giving him the bag. Figuring out how it will work out in a contract sense. lol. So I guess it’s settled. All this talk about him being our savior and he hasn’t even suited up.

Its just optimism at this point. Some are true believers, and that's fine, but others are just excited about a new QB and what that might mean. We'll find out soon enough. I choose to defend JJM against unfair criticism, but I also want to embrace the positivity of what Murray MIGHT bring. I also want to illustrate that Kyler has deficiencies and it might not be all candy and nuts. The NFL is a crazy league, funny things happen.....don't we deserve something 'funny' to happen for us as Viking's fans? I'm sick of the shitty end of the stick....and what went down with Uncle Sammy was a little nauseating in hindsight.

Darnold had a good year. I’m still okay with letting him go. That team was special and the defense was intense. But that’s definitely a talking point. I’m open to see what Kyler does. But people on her just bowing to him already is absolutely absurd and ridiculous. Let’s see his work ethic play out. Ps. That’s a fact that it’s minuscule at best thus far.
