Kyler Murray Poll
So let's hear it on our favorite polarizing player, Kyler Murray!
44 votes
As of the conclusion of the 2025 season, Murray has not won more than 50% of his games, and his turnover-to-loss ratio is high. 73 career turnovers (60 INTs, 13 fumbles). Throughout his 7-season career with the Arizona Cardinals, which his team struggled when his turnovers came to light. Kyler Murray has experienced several losses in his seven-year NFL career, particularly during late-season collapses, that were sealed by final-possession interceptions, fumbles, or failed drives.
Paraphrasing things I have found. Sorry if I don't want to anoint the Oompa Loompa in April like some have.

Duh. It wont be a true competition. It is Murrays job. I am surprised you turned on JJ so quick, however.
Not turned, just is what it is. Making the best out of it. Hoping this pivot by KOC works. Everyone knows my feelings on McCarthy. There'll be time to complain down the road if it blows up, but why piss and moan too much now? Wins are wins if they come. I'm a Vikings' fan and Murray is a Viking now. Even if we are like minded on JJM, do we really want to be the fans that are rooting against Murray? I can't do that. And how could I turn on this face?

All I am saying is, if I had to choose between the two to win on a final drive and not cause a turnover, I will choose JJ every time.

I sincerely hope we get to see JJ do that and get a second chance as a Viking starter. Until then.....

I'm rooting for QB1. I mean, we all are. We'll have plenty of time to get the minor gripes and opinions out of the way, but come early September we'll all be on the Kyler Murray train. Kyler.....I want you to do something for me...
Most of us are rooting for Turbo Tark, K1, our Short King.
All?

I think this is, for me, what gives me the most potential optimism: if Kyler is motivated and all that entails for a talented NFL QB, its possible he makes the most of this opportunity in 2026. If he wants to prove something, giddy up. I think JJM feels that exact same way, but I think most of us can see the QB1 is going to be Murray.
Hey September? Hurry up!
Hurry up? No, time is going too fast. Grandsons 2 and 3 coming this fall and winter.

So, game on the line, you'd take the guy who threw more INTs than TDs last year over the guy who, over his 7-year career, has thrown twice as many TDs and INTs. Seems logical.

Yeah I'm taking the guy who threw twice as many TD's LAST season, won us the opener with the "game on the line" and who's team didn't parlay a bogus foot injury into his eventual exit while eating a hugely shitty contract in the process. Give me McCarthy

Yep. When I hear someone say 'he'll be better than Darnold' methinks the purple Kool-Aid might have some vodka/cough syrup in it.
Odd, when you consider...
Darnold avg 17-game pace before MIN:
- 3824 total yards
- 22 total touchdowns
- 21 total turnovers
Kyler avg 17-game pace before MIN:
- 4632 total yards
- 30 total touchdowns
- 14 total turnovers

C'mon now....JJ has played 10 games. On a team loaded with injuries on the offensive line. Yet won 6 of the team's 9 games. I mean, I'm fine with the Murray glaze but jesus.....stats don't win games. Winners win games.

Glazing is what you call pointing out that Murray has thrown twice as many TDs than INTs?

You can't extrapolate this kind of stat mongering and completely ignore why and how Arizona let Murray go. Its possible he plays very well and its also possible he doesn't. You also ignore the very real possibility that McCarthy would be improved as QB1....like somehow he's in complete stasis at 23 years old and 10 games played. That's an eye roll for me.

How is he more clutch?
Just my opinion, but I think most fans want JJ McCarthy to win the job. I could absolutely see a scenario where Murray is the starter, struggles, the switch is made to McCarthy who comes in to a standing ovation, and he never gives the job back. I think we are going to see a different JJ McCarthy this year for the reasons I've mentioned in other threads. I'd be shocked if we don't see a hugely improved JJ McCarthy this year.

JJ has made his bed and that's why Murray is here, that's just a fact. No denying he played very poorly at times. KOC made a decision for a 'competition', so we have one and it was a bargain priced deal. Hard to turn it down, I suppose. As others have pointed out, JJ didn't play well enough for not competing for QB1. Ok. Let's see where things end up and how many wins the team ends up having.

I don't know that he is. Determining "clutch" is an elusive and nebulous stat that has a lot to do with surround. Those factors that you use to prop up JJ (line injuries, etc) are not allowed when referring to Murray? Keep in mind that even with the line injuries, JJ had a far better surround than Murray has ever had. What's more, his defense was far better.

....yet Arizona ate $55 million to be rid of him. I mean, how can that not be factored in? That's all I'm saying. To me, he's not Sam Darnold nor will he be better than Uncle Sammy. But he might be very good in Minnesota, I've acknowledged that many times. You can put Patrick Mahomes's name in caps as many times as you'd like but he's not Patrick Mahomes, lol.
Fans are gonna fan and I'm sure there will be 20 more QB threads before TC (and 50 afterwards). Personally, I think K1 thrives here and that has nothing to do with how I feel about JJM - which is unfortunately still wait and see.
Vikings look like fools letting Darnold walk and they would have been fools x2 if they didnt bring Murray in. The football gods may have just gifted them in a way they hardly have done historically with this franchise.
Either way, let's get someone here who plays well and can consistently start for more than 5 years. Terrible track record with this team and QB's...
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

There were a lot of struggles you could absolutely attribute to;
Just not playing for almost two years after the knee injury. No preseason game reps.
Rusty mechanics and no cohesion with his receivers
O-line injuries
OConnell's absolute refusal to alter the offense until, what, week 13?
Continued injuries throughout the season
To me, none of these issues should continue into this upcoming season and I think he'll be better equipped all around to run the offense to OConnell's liking. We'll see what happens. I'm hoping for McCarthy, but will absolutely be cheering for whomever is under center.

All good points, but this is the bottom line. 👍🤘
