Kyler Murray Poll
So let's hear it on our favorite polarizing player, Kyler Murray!

Kyler has played with a bottom 5 defense his entire career. QB wins whether you think they are a valid stat or not (I mostly don't) are heavily correlated with the team's defensive ranking, specifically ppga. Also despite the narrative, his EPA is very good from the pocket and not so much when running around. Hero ball is what you are forced to do when the rest of the team is mostly ass. However his ability to create out of structure will be an asset here regardless.
I'm really interested to see what he does with real weapons, an oline, an offensive coach, a top 5-10 defense and the motivation to earn a new contract. As Kevin O'Connell himself said to Murray, "You may be our long-term solution at quarterback here."
The nice thing is if he earns the bag, we’ve got cap space in 27 to pay the man.

Yeah. The team can't let another get away if the Short King rocks it. Seriously.

Let’s say that Murray generally looks pretty good (doesn’t win a SB, but we win one or two playoff games). Does his injury history scare you off from resigning him to a big contract?
Let’s look at two scenarios:
Plays in 12 regular season games, one to two playoff wins, JJM looks slightly better than last year in the other 5 games.
Plays all 17 regular season games, one to two playoff wins. JJM looks good in preseason but doesn’t see the field, so no real new information.
How many years and how much money would you offer him? Is it enough to keep him here?
For reference, here's his number of starts per season: 16, 16, 14, 11, 8, 17, 5

Well, here is one example of a second contract the Packers gave Jordan Love. I dont think the Vikings would need to go this rich with a K1 extension though. And I think GB overpaid for Love (should be a song).
==================================
Jordan Love signed a four-year, $220 million contract extension with the Green Bay Packers in July 2024, running through the 2028 season.
Key Contract Terms (2024–2028 Extension)
Total Value: $220 Million
Average Salary: $55 Million
Guaranteed Money: $160.3 Million Total ($100.8M fully guaranteed at signing)
Signing Bonus: $75 Million (record high at signing)
Free Agency: Unrestricted Free Agent (UFA) in 2029
Hurry-up Vikings, we ain't getting any younger!

Same contract offer if he plays 12 or 17 games?

CC is also known for hating JJM due to the Ohio/Michigan rivalry.
KOC, JJM, Flores...make a good plan, or you'll be following Kwesi....

Duh. It wont be a true competition. It is Murrays job. I am surprised you turned on JJ so quick, however.
A veteran QB in his prime or just past it for his playing style, vs a 3rd year guy with about 8 whole games under his belt..
Who you gonna assume wins the job? Its not turning on JJ, is accepting reality. JJM needs live reps and a lot of them to reach his potential.
Why isn't Chuck Foreman in the Hall of Fame?

Couldn’t win with a first ballot HOF and DHop together. Hell Fitz retired because of Murray’s lazy ass. But I guess some know all about that.
Larry was 37 when he retired after the 2020 season, a season in which Kyler Murray passed for 4,000 yards, scored 37 total TDs and threw 12 INTs

I watched Murray's 20'-21' highlights this morning.....

And just to echo my earlier concern, but that was with Kliff Kingbury as the head coach and designing an almost college style offense around Murray that best utilized his skill set. Does anybody honestly see "the whisperer" doing that?

Only a QB thread could elicit 100 replies on a Vikings forum...

You can't extrapolate this kind of stat mongering and completely ignore why and how Arizona let Murray go.
He can and he will! 😛

Don’t worry. Murray will bring us our first Lombardi. All hail the Oompa Loompa. I’m sure he woke up and has an amazing work ethic now. His first two years were back yard college football offenses. The only offense he could understand because he puts in zero extra work.
