OFFICIAL: Dobbs to start Sunday
per KOC.
Hope they move the pocket - Play to your QBs strength for christ sake.
Can we get the Saints game 1st half version…? ;)
Mullens apparently will be the backup. Wtf has happened to Jaren Hall!? Kid looked good in his first start, gets knocked out, and now is buried on the depth chart. Makes me wonder if the concussion was worse then originally let on
Talking to my brother-in-law last night about Hall and we were wondering the same thing. I really thought he'd be the starter when they came out of their bye.
Coach watched Mad Maxx Crosby on film & decided on the guy capable of running for his life, I presume… ;) B)
Not surprised. LET’S GO DAWBBS!

Mullens was on IR when Hall got his start, so I don’t think we can say that Hall was ever over Mullens. Hall had like 10 total snaps and probably didn’t even get out of the scripted plays until they were in the redzone, which is hardly enough to establish being “good”. Furthermore, I think there’s very much a possibility that Dobbs and Hall were in the running for starting, while Mullens would the primary backup for either due to his experience in the system and the league and probably the greater ability to come in cold at any given moment, so I wouldn’t call it damning evidence for Hall just because Mullens is the “backup”. I think all you can say for sure is that Hall hasn't blown the doors off his competition in practice and firmly established himself as the starter.

I think most Viking fans wanted Hall (myself included) but only because we want to see what he's got, season be damned.
Remember, when Hall started, it was only because he was the only option. But ideally you want a raw kid like that to spend more time developing before throwing him to the wolves, potentially resulting in bad habits. It sounds like they genuinely like his potential. I don't think this is Mond 2.0
@"medaille" said:Agreed. Completed 8 passes, one going for 47 yards to a wide open, obviously blown coverage to Mattison. No idea what the kid has or doesn't have. Mullens should be the backup, that was the original plan when Cousins started the season.@"supafreak84" said: Mullens apparently will be the backup. Wtf has happened to Jaren Hall!? Thought this was a pretty insightful comment from Vikings QB Josh Dobbs on his communication in the last week with HC Kevin O'Connell: pic.twitter.com/FgtDjgLOW3

But I kind of figured the Vikings would go with Dobbs until they were officially eliminated, then maybe Hall plays again. I think most of us know what Dobbs is, we don't know what Hall is and I think most of us would like to find out in a more than one game setting@"supafreak84" said: Mullens apparently will be the backup. I am not at all surprised by this. Keep the stability and let's roll
Hall won't play until they are out of the playoff hunt. Hopefully, that doesn't happen. But if they lose this week, they should consider it sooner.
I understand staying with Dobbs this week. The big question is whether he can get the ball to Jefferson. I'm skeptical right now. But I do believe he could make it happen if KOC can call the right plays. We shall see.
I gotta think that Dobbs can only know, what, maybe 25% of the playbook? Doesn't that drastically limit KOC's play calling?
I mean Mullens knowledge of the offense, alone, should put him ahead of Dobbs if we REALLY wanted to "stay in the hunt". I almost feel like this is a covert way of tanking.
Looking forward to the Disastronaut turning it over several times this Sunday.

He's careless with it. I'm surprised that KOC is going with him when IMO Mullens is a better option and will limit turnovers. We'll see I suppose.....
I dont think Dobbs has a starting caliber ceiling and Hall most likely got concussed more than we may have thought.

Maybe, but we have no healthy QBs with a starting caliber ceiling. Maaaaybe Hall can follow a Heineke/Browning path and be solid in a few years but the fan obsession with him has been over the top. And Mullens is Mullens.
Dobbs is the only one of the 3 who I've watched help this team win games, so he should be the guy for at least this week and longer unless it's another total meltdown.

Dobbs hasn't proven he can play within a system and win. His first two games were running around playing backyard football.I suspect they want to see him when JJ is out there and defenses are playing them very differently than b4.
I dont have an issue with him starting - not a big one anyways. I think Mullens would have given us a better shot of winning.

I have been caught up in it in the past also, so its not a knock on anyone.
But this time it feels different. I am not jazzed up for Hall because he's not Dobbs. Its that Dobbs is a turnover machine. The team we have is good enough to beat anyone, as long as they don't turn the ball over. Maybe KOC has it all figured out. But I would be pleasantly surprised if Dobs doesn't cough it up at least twice this weekend.
He's a nice kid who is putting in the time and effort. He is saying all the right things. He is the kind of guy you genuinely want to see succeed. But once teams started game planning for him, he showed why he's had so many different names at the top of his paycheck in a short amount of time.
