Is it just me? Not happy.
I like Addison but with Levis siting right there come on! Option 1.
I would have liked a move down if we really didn't like Levis as option 2.
option 3 - Addison or Porter in that order but not thrilled.
Only first round with no second rounder but two year in a row - armchair Yawn!

Rebuild is not part of any discussion in my mind, if we draft a QB then I want him to start. Care to expand on the bolded section FLV, why's that?

But seriously, I dont want to sit through a few years of crap to hopefully/maybe get back to where they are right now. Nothing is guaranteed, but I thought last season was extremely fun. I’ll take that over doing a complete rebuild.I’d like them to sign Cousins for 5 years, shore up the defense and win a lot more games than they lose, and hopwfully a super bowl gets thrown in there along the way.
Agree. On one hand I'm happy they didn't take a QB. I still think our most likely route to a championship is with Cousins, even with a big contract. But if they didn't sell the farm for a QB, which I was open to, you would hope it was because they wanted trade down and fix the defense. They didn't do that either.
As hard as I am on Kwesi and this front office, I'm ok with this pick. I've been lobbying for another high end receiver since last season as I recognized Thielen's age, dwindling production, and that he simply just wasn't a guy anymore that was going to take pressure and double teams off Jefferson. I think the Giants doubling and eliminating Jefferson in the playoffs was a huge tip in the way this pick was likely going to go. Hyatt would have been my pick, but a lot of people had Addison as the top receiver on their boards. I think my problem with him is he just isn't great in any particular category. Average to below average size. Speed doesn't stand out on tape and he didn't dominate last season at SC as expected transferring over from Pitt. Needs to get stronger as he is rail thin. With that said I think he certainly has a chance to be a good pro player and should be an upgrade in explosiveness from Thielen. Comp for me would be Nelson Agholor.
I just think at the end of the day we had a ton of needs and it would have been very difficult to take a QB, sit him, and not get some type of immediate return on a roster that sorely needed it. Addison will contribute immediately
Two teams, I hear, that had interest in moving up to 23 when the #Vikings were on the clock: Saints (29) and Chiefs (31). Belief is at least one of those teams would've taken Jordan Addison. Vikes like him so much, trade offers not rich enough, stayed at 23.

Jordan Addison is going to fill that Robert Woods role well for the #Vikings in O’Connell’s offense. His alignment versatility fits alongside Jefferson and Hockenson. Exact type of complementary option MIN needed.

#Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah on Jordan Addison:“One of the reasons we love him is the inside-outside flex. There’s a couple of players in this draft that you just feel like, at birth, they were supposed to do the thing they’re gonna get paid to do in the NFL. He’s one of those”

Care to expand on the bolded section FLV, why's that?Tomorrow isn't promised to anyone and getting up in age many things can happen that just are not expected. The 2023 season starts in September, how many can absolutely know that they will be able to watch it? So, how can anyone expect to watch the 2024 season or beyond? Oh, and I'm not even saying win a Superbowl before I die. Many years ago my goal changed from that to just getting there.
Also, just to add my high blood pressure issue. Well, I guess I have the Vikings to thank for that.
Maybe it's letdown from conditioning and hyperbole for some. We are so used to the trading down mentality that it was expected. I didn't really expect them to trade up, way too costly and they couldn't afford it. There is a lack of drama in the way the board fell, it was like oh shit the choices are unbelievable. I was thinking don't take Levis or Hooker here. Also the fact that both were still there and other teams need qbs didn't take them says something. I'm good with the pick. If they could have traded down, they probably would have. Afterwards it was kind of like ok that just happened. Maybe they take a shot later, who knows?

This guy just seems to be a “natural” at playing football, we all probably grew up w/ 1 or 2 people that certain things just seem to be easy for them, football is Jordan’s gift…
Pros on Addison, hes quicker than fast, can change directions without having to drop much speed, sure he isn't gonna blow by many people, but he will get open quickly and seems to have the hands to make contested catches....so it's nothing at all against the kid.
But WR? How delusional is a GM that has a solid O, and a bottom of the league D, and uses his first two picks in the draft on adding offensive play makers. And before somebody makes a cute comment about how its an offense driven league, then they better the fuck not use the defense as an excuse as to why the team loses games, or as an excuse as to why the team hasn't produced squat with kirko at the helm.
Pick for the future, great 2 QB prospects fall into your lap, pick for the now...great, a couple damn good defenders available as well to try and address the glaring deficiency from last year...but no, lets spend our one decent draft pick this year on a guy that will be third read on most passing plays.
I think kam is putting to much hope in the kids from last years draft making a huge impact this year to fix our D, which is fine if the plan was to move on from KC and build for the future, but if the thought was to win now, the only plan I see is hoping to win the race to 60 every game, which our O isn't built to do.

I actually like going WR, I’m just nervous about his size.
As of right now, I don’t see any reason to think our run game will be better this season than last. If anything without Cook (probably) it could be worse.
We’re going to have to pass. A lot.
Edit: I was looking up comps and have seen Lockett, TY Hilton, DeVonte Smith. If Addison can provide a Lockett to JJ’s “Metcalf”, that will be a lot of fun. Throw in Hockenson and KJ and Kirk definitely has weapons galore. The defense is obviously another story but hopefully that gets addressed tonight/tomorrow.
The Addison pick didn't really move the needle for me either Jimmy. All the top WR prospects this year are shorter and a little thinly built. I think Addison's game is a lot like Devonta Smith in Philly. Slippery smooth running routes, but slim built.
I'm OK with the pick since I think he's a Day 1 contributor and has a high floor with a solid ceiling. There were a few defensive guys I liked, but no one I would have clamored for over Addison.
As for taking a QBoF there instead... I'm not a fan of Hooker and we should have the book on Levis since KOC and his coach are best buds. The fact that they passed on him (and quite a few QB needy teams as well) makes me think there is something there the team didn't like at all.
I'm curious to see what we do today. Might see a player trade(s) since we're light on Day 2 picks.
I was listening to the presser and I thought it was interesting that Notre Dame was looking at Addison as a corner. He sounds quite level-headed and ready to work. I am trusting the brain trust on this one.

That certainly seems to be the case but also figure our new defensive coordinator may also be more competent to get better play out of the guys they already have. Donatell didn't seem to have a clue.

I have a hunch the Vikings are going to be much more active in post-draft free agency than they usually are.
Looks like we spent a #1 pick on a #3 reciever… ;) B)

thats nice, but doesnt sell much hope. we talk about the longshots that are draft picks, the odds of finding quality in the kiddy pool are even slimmer.but I do appreciate you trying to cheer me up!

I wouldnt have moved up for Hooker or Levis, at least not given up much to do so, but given that there are several teams Radiers and one other, that were trying to get back into the first for one of the two Qbs, I would think that whatever the hangups to keep them from going early, must not be to bad to keep teams from trying to grab them in the 20s. I guess we will know tonight based on how fast they come off the board in round 2.
Am I disappointed? Well I would have taken a flyer on Levis. He has a high ceiling, but probably an equally high chance to totally bust. But without the 5th year option I'm not sure why you'd bother after round 1. There are more pressing needs. Still, you wonder when this team is going to actually address the QBOTF issue and get out of Kirk Cousins Perpetual .500 Hell.
A good WR2 isn't a bad addition and he seems like a talented player, but how often does a team, outside of some some Detroit Lions-style mistake, add a WR2 with their first round pick? IMO they spent a 1st on a 2nd round type guy, 4th WR off the board because the trade market was soft and the pickings were slim at that point with so many defensive guys going ahead of the 23rd pick.
As far as trading back, it's clear that they worked the phones until they dropped their pick with 40 seconds left and couldn't find value. With everyone now on the analytics train and wanting to trade back out of the latter half of the first, it's very hard to find a partner since they all want to do the same thing. You either stay put or get fleeced (like last year). At least we stayed put.
