Draft behind the scenes
Lots of high fiving and it sounds like they worked the draft exactly how they wanted it. I found the part with the Lions trade down being his "dream scenario." The Packers trade down wasn't covered but them moving up to get Booth was as well as their Combine interview with Booth

I think Reed is the insurance that Ingram or Davis don't pan out. With Reed, I believe you have at worst NFL AVERAGE production at RG, which would be an upgrade at the position.
Yeah, I was reading somewhere yesterday that Reed and Jesse Davis are sharing RG1 snaps. Went on to say Davis had the better pass pro scores but Reed had better overall scores.Big indictment on our hope for Wyatt, we sign 2 FA G’s and draft one in the second jeesh they must think he flat out sucks.

There's a real possibility Davis might not make this roster.

I wouldn't read too much into that. Apparently, Ingram didn't get any reps either. And Jesse and Reed are the two veterans. But yeah, it's never a good sign when the team adds three players at the position you play. It will be interesting to see what his malfunction is. We've heard injury, we've heard conditioning, we've heard he doesn't know what he's doing. But all of those things eventually go away. The only other possibility is that he just flat out sucks, which is possible I guess, but it's a little early to say that. It's also possible they have him behind Bradbury at center. He took snaps there last year.
Must watch TV for all fans.
I will admit I was pretty unhappy about the Detroit move in R1 and what we got in return, but seeing how this was a scenario they had already both planned and were hoping for softens my initial pissy response.
KAM and Kevin really communicate well with each other. Seeing the room of scouts and position coaches all present and engaged. They felt the best value in the draft was 34-70 and went from having 2 players in that range to 4. 3 of the 4 picks look like they will push for starting jobs with Asamoah likely to play in a key role.
Feel like we plugged a lot of holes (CB, FS, OG, LB) that got missed in FA.
Roster looks re-tooled and pretty well balanced for Year 1 under KAM. Still a few holes but secondary looks much better than it did in February.

It still blows my mind that they moved all the way down to a division rival, for pennies on the dollar, because they liked the "strength" of the draft between picks #32-70 when everybody and their mothers believed this was a below average class on talent with only 15 or so real blue chip prospects. We traded out of a spot where we could have chosen one of those blue chip talents to instead play around with more picks much later in the draft. Hugely questionable and even more so when your trading down with division rivals who both added playmakers. Again, they want to be the smartest guys in the room with their unconventional methods but if this blows up I have no problem putting them on a short leash and wanting them gone sooner rather then later.
I think John Spytek should have been the hire at GM for us. His resume dwarfed that of Kwesi, Poles, or the female from Philadelphia who were the finalists for our GM job, despite Spytek interviewing. The Buccaneers have been one of THE BEST drafting teams in the league and the guys been a scout and personnel guy for years. I have a good idea why he wasn't hired...and I think it was a mistake. And with his connections to Michigan we might very well have ended up with Jim Harbaugh as our head coach which I would have been very happy with

I know there's not a lot going right now but we all get it. You're not a fan of Kam or the trade. I promise no one will accuse you of going along to get along when the Vikings go 0-17 this year.

I think its important that Supa keeps reminding us as much as possible how he feels about KAM so we don't forget.

I can't remember, does SF84 like KAM, and did he like the 1st round trade back with the Lions?

No, you told us that it's likely only a conditioning issue with Davis. And since when do conditioning, injuries, and inability to comprehend a system always go away? Lol I think you make shit up on the fly. A guy often sucks because all three of those things do NOT go away in addition to some other critical factors including speed, flexibility, strength, fit, etc. That's what makes it even more stupid to try to pin it on "just a conditioning issue". LOL It's probably the easiest of every factor to be able to address, which makes the logic all the more ridiculous to begin with.
Informative watch. I really think we blew it not taking this guy. Allegedly ran 4.22 at Alabama is already running in the 4.4 range five months post surgery. He's going to be a problem...and not only did we pass, but we let the f'n Lions move up to take him. Oh and that is Cine he blows by at the 2:30 mark and thats the same vaunted Georgia defense he lit up in the SEC Championship for 184 yards and 2 TD's.
Watch the video fan boys...supafreak84 said so!
