Let me just say this to everybody who says he’s not a leader. I will agree with you for the most part up until this point I do think he lacks some of the intangibles most people are looking for at that position. But there was a situation that happened this offseason that I’m privy to the information that has galvanized that locker room towards Kirk in ways that the public does not know. There was a meeting — all of the biggest names on the team at this meeting — and Kirk blew everybody away. In how he handled it the things that were said, the things that were said in that group, ’cause it wasn’t just played there were other people within the organization there. Apparently, a couple of guys walked out of the meeting and said, ‘Kirk’s our dog. Kirk’s our freaking dog.’ Apparently, Kirk came in very prepared for this type of meeting. Apparently, he had been taking notes all season long and laid it all out. I guess the guys were like, ‘Damn, this is a guy that we can ride with that’s going to have our backs at all times…’ Kirk’s been listening. And Kirk’s been writing stuff down. And Kirk has the team’s back.

What matters is this team has missed the playoffs the last two seasons and has only been there once while paying top dollar for a QB.
Who the QB is/was doesn't matter either.

That regime got flushed because of that on-field performance and (I suspect) how poorly the org environment and org culture were as well.
I really dont think we can under-estimate the latter in the eyes of the Wilfs.
I do think Cousins is good enough to win most weeks. Couple that with an even average D, better/more tenured OL, improved situational football from the coaches and I dont think its unreasonable to assume a better on-field product.
We'll see what happens going forward...

Just my take but I don't think you see as many posts about the horse shit D because Zimmer was fired. He was fired because his defense was horse shit and he was a poor relationship builder, amongst other things. The defense was addressed. We have a completely new scheme coming in with new coaches and new players so there really isn't much to bitch about at this point.
Cousins is still here on another short extension being the highest paid player on the team and we'll be dealing with his contract again next offseason. If you aren't in the camp that believes Kirk is ever going to be the guy to take us to a Super Bowl, it's a problem. If you love Kirks stats and think he is a Super Bowl caliber QB (with the right pieces around him), then continuing to pay him on these short extensions isn't a problem. You can make a fair argument either way...doesn't make anybody wrong or a fucktard. I personally felt moving on from the Cousins contract merry-go-round would have been the better move considering we just made an organizational reboot and could have received better value for him this offseason on the trade market. But the Wilf's wanted Cousins, KOC wanted Cousins, so we the fans now have Cousins (again) and I will cheer him on as my quarterback.

I was very strongly in Zimmer's corner until I saw him as his own echo chamber. No matter the OC, Zimmer wanted the same basic concepts. The league seemed to figure out his defense, and most of his drafted CBs busted. The reality became undeniable: Zimmer either declined, or the team/game passed him by in a hurry.
It's still a long way before week 1, but I can't help thinking that the mindset within the team (and especially the offense) will be more positive and more unified.

I'll say this. I like Kirk. I want him to do well since he's our QB, and good to great QB play usually leads to a better chance of winning. Was there anything in his play during his tenure here that made me think wow, we've got a game changer??? I have to say no to that.
HOWEVER, I really think Zimmer handcuffed him due to Zim's penchant for playing not to lose. I was a big Zim supporter up until this year when it seemed every game he made some colossal game management mistake, or had a bad game plan in general. I'm excited by the new regime here as it feels like a breath of fresh air. Maybe now having a coach who believes in him, along with a system and play caller that appears to play to his strengths, and playmakers all around him.....we'll see the guy who we thought we were getting to be the big difference maker.

People spouting off on these boards are never as brave in real life as they are online. There are some on this board who have obviously prioritized their day to spend on the site finding cute gifs misstating the true point. They utilize these to take shots at other posters they differ with to compensate for their lack of ability to do so in real life. The issue is the anonymity and distance involved in the interactions. They utilize the fact that they have all day and no lives to become aggressive, where that would have a bad result in real life. I’ve only met a couple of members in real life from this board and past Viking boards. The ones I know simply could never have backed up their bluster physically or intelligently that they demonstrate in the forum. In the days of old, they called them internet tough guys. The funny part is that that culture has now moved on to what they call in high school "cyber bullying". It requires no skill other than not having a life, and having the time to replace knowledge and wit, with google searches and gifs. My point is that the people on a board who spend all day trying to belittle the people that don't agree with them, have issues. They overstep their bounds within these forums because they cannot dream to do so elsewhere or as an individual. You would think people in the back halves of their life could have enough self-esteem to be above that, but that's not where some of these people are.
