Kirk’s Our Dog:’ Vikings Stars Blown Away in Meeting With Cousins, Insider Says

From Leber:
Let me just say this to everybody who says he’s not a leader. I will agree with you for the most part up until this point I do think he lacks some of the intangibles most people are looking for at that position. But there was a situation that happened this offseason that I’m privy to the information that has galvanized that locker room towards Kirk in ways that the public does not know. There was a meeting — all of the biggest names on the team at this meeting — and Kirk blew everybody away. In how he handled it the things that were said, the things that were said in that group, ’cause it wasn’t just played there were other people within the organization there. Apparently, a couple of guys walked out of the meeting and said, ‘Kirk’s our dog. Kirk’s our freaking dog.’ Apparently, Kirk came in very prepared for this type of meeting. Apparently, he had been taking notes all season long and laid it all out. I guess the guys were like, ‘Damn, this is a guy that we can ride with that’s going to have our backs at all times…’ Kirk’s been listening. And Kirk’s been writing stuff down. And Kirk has the team’s back.

OK lets see if this dog will hunt.
If not it's just a good amount of barking.

All this sounds strange. Why hold an offseason team meeting to clear the air about negative things said or heard regarding Cousins? Interesting take by Leber though that he didn't consider Cousin's a leader and lacked the intangibles to be considered a leader until this note-taking meeting changed his mind. None of this adds up to me.
Definitely seems too good to be true but hey if it’s true, giddyup let’s go.

my guess? Players were frustrated with the Zimmer / Spielman show. There needed to be SOMEONE still in the building to give some semblance of stability to returning and new team members. Kwesi and KOC are “one month” into there jobs, they probably dont even know where the mens room is.A veteran needed to stand up and say “theres been a regime change, the Wilf’s listened to the players, we need to show them and our fans that we can do this. Lets help each other, lets help the coaches, lets get this done”
It needs to come from the QB, and I’m thrilled to hear that it did.
In most NFL cities it is not news when the QB speaks up in a meeting.

Meh, this won't change anyone's mind that doesn't like Cousins. I'm sure we'll get its 'fake news'. There's no doubt that Cousins has been unfairly criticized at times, but that's been the media narrative for awhile now. I mean the guy was a 4th round draft pick, you'd think he'd garner some outperforming his selection type coverage, but nope. You'd swear he was the first pick in the Draft with the scrutiny he's received.
My guess is the Cousins may not be the leader some want but he's also not as bad as some think in this department. Regardless, there's a new regime in town and a breath of fresh air for this organization. Let's see what can happen over the course of the next few years.
I'm starting to think a portion of the fan base has been sodomized by Kirk Cousins. Lured into his conversion van by a handful of candy or maybe by a spot on cover of a Blink-182 song or a rousing rendition of Oklahoma.

This is the comparison we needed.

this means so much more than a couple of talking head morons on the radio. Macky and Judd are typical of not knowing about the game because they have never competeted at a high level in the game. Their sole objective is to sell add time and get sponsers.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. It may explain the extreme level of obsession some hold for a guy they supposedly hate.
Viking fanbase angst and splintering over QB's is as right as rain...Peanut butter and chocolate, bunnies and easter.

What did he do to you after he got you in the van? It's ok to talk about it, this is a safe space.
I'm thrilled to hear from noted Viking p.r. rep Ben Leber that Kirk is a dog. Now when he shits on the field it will be Kevin O'Connell's job to run out with the poop scoop and clean it up!
Hatred? LOL, some of you crack me up. Who has shown hatred towards Cousins? Does simply not seeing the greatness that some you apparently do automatically make the other haters? I have heard no ill will wished on him, simply those that think the team would be better off trying to improve the position instead of continuing the status quo of paying a premium wage for what we get in return. If you all think that is hatred you lead some pretty sheltered lives to which I say, good for you.
If Cousins uses this as motivation to improve his play this upcoming season and has his team's support...good for him.
