New rumor this week is Harbaughs chances of returning to the NFL are slimming, but to not count out the Vikings to make a surprise push for him. More could come this week. This according to a reporter who used to work for the Detroit Free Press and has connections in Ann Arbor. Stay tuned

Jim Harbaugh might still be in play. Heard some cryptic things about the Michigan coach over the weekend, including that he’s not likely to get the Vikings job and yet one other job is in play. Not sure which that would be. Would Shad Khan take another shot at a famous college coach? Can’t imagine. Houston? Miami? Steven Ross? No! Who knows. I hear a lot of weird things this time of year.

This all makes me wonder wth the meeting with him and the vikings really was?

An interview? A just gauge interest discussion?

Due diligence on the Vikings side and for Harbaugh, I think there is some element of wanting to return to the NFL, but also trying to manufacture some leverage to get a new deal at Michigan, since he had to take a pay cut last year. He's an intriguing coach, but I also like the other three coaches who we are linked to in O'Connell, Morris, and Ryans. I lean slightly towards O'Connell, because I like what the Rams have done on offense over the past few years, but I am happy to see that less appealing candidates to me like Quinn, Bowles, and McDaniels seem to be out of the picture.

you want to kick that up a notch.... melt cheddar or pepper jack cheese over the top, i suspect nacho cheese would be pretty tasty as well,  but then the leftovers would be a soggy mess.

Speaking of things teenage girls say, what's up with that little schwa sound to add angry emphasis at the end of all words that end in a consonant? My daughter yells at her brother: "STOPAHHH!"  or "DON'TAHH!" His name is Jude. "JUUUDAHHH!" I thought it was just her. But then I hear the girl on Schitt's Creek do it too. And then another in a movie. It's apparently a thing. Kids are so weird.

I'm very on board with this too. It's been weird. This board and also the media have kind of been downplaying Harbaugh-to-MIN this whole time, despite mounting evidence that it might be happening. It reminds me of being on PT when the Favre-to-MIN rumors and news were going wild. The smoke was absolutely billowing and there were still so many Vikings fans burying their heads in the sand and saying it'd never happen. I'm not saying Harbaugh is a done deal but right now he feels like the front-runner for sure, IMO. And that's not what the narrative is at all. Kind of odd.

Jim's also by far the most qualified candidate, if that matters to anyone.

If most qualified also means most talented, then yes, I'm all for it.

The narrative is what it is because of the obvious downside to a Harbaugh hire. I don't think anyone is unaware of how qualified he is. That said, no hire comes without a degree of downside.

I think the interview tomorrow will be mostly about coming to an agreement on personnel decisions, roles, responsibilities and whether or not Harbaugh shares KAM's cultural vision. If all that's good, he'll likely be the guy. Because I don't see money being an issue.

Biggest fear is Harbaugh leaving in a couple years while O'Connell gets hired elsewhere and goes on to become the next Shanahan or McVay.

According to Bacon, he believes if the Vikings give Harbaugh any kind of offer tomorrow he's likely to take it. Dolphins aren't even in the conversation. It's the Vikings job or back to Michigan for Harbaugh.

Makes sense...

I dont think the Vikings are a hire tomorrow mode, but stranger things have happened with this franchise over the years.

I think we've interviewed everybody we wanted and are just waiting for the biggest domino to land tomorrow. If both sides hit it off, I'd expect Harbaugh to stay in Minnesota and likely be named head coach by Friday. That's just my guess. The Vikings have been diligent and there's no sense in pondering the decision any longer if Harbaugh is the guy they want
