Cousins & Zim combo needs to end
Kirk could be very good with a different coach
Zim could be very good with a different QB
Neither has it to win it all. Time to move on from both if you are serious about building a winner.
Seen enough, this team should more consistent offensively, more of a killer instinct, more points off of turnovers
This defense should be smarter, shouldnt have to cycle and recycle CBs, shouldnt give 7 points a game within the last 2 min of every game
2022, time for new. Rid of Zim, trade Kirk for Russell
I am so tired of Zimmer getting a pass. There is talent being wasted. It's time to move on.
Huge third down and long and our corner falls down, giving up a 37 yard gain. Zimmer team in a nutshell
How about this team's inability to stop the outside zone cutback running scheme. It doesn't matter who we have on the line, we have no idea how to defend against it. That's just one of several examples of how this team is poorly coached.
Yeah, this is why they lost:
Anthony Barr says there might’ve been a “Christmas hangover” in the crowd today that didn’t produce much buzz. He said Mike Zimmer tried to pump up the defense before the game telling them to bring their own energy. Lack of crowd noise was, indeed, notable.

So, Zim knew before the game that there was going to be a lack of crowd energy?
He then tried to pump up the defense to bring their own energy.
Guess the rest of the team didn't matter or maybe they were deemed OK with energy level?
Please...can we start our interviews for HC this Tuesday!

I was thinking earlier today how this team may have lost its homefield. That place used to be amazing.
They still pack it in, but the fans know mediocrity when they see it. I think this weighs heavily into the decisions the Wilfs have to make this off-season.
No, I dont think they'll kick Zimmer to the curb during the season.
To blame the fans for the lack of noise is such a BS excuse. US Bank Stadium is always rocking and for them to publicly make a comment like that is a giant slap in the face to the fanbase. Maybe don't get out coached practically every game vs a good team. Maybe don't have an embarrassing run defense. Maybe have guys in the secondary who can actually catch balls...should have had at least two more easy interceptions.

Jeez Barr, or maybe its that this team has under performed for a long time now, and we are all tired of it? Hey lets make sure we put all our effort into cheering on this team, that is going to lose in the last 2 minutes of the game like clockwork!
Agree with OP. Kirk and Zim both need to go. Neither is terrible, but nor is either good enough to overcome the other’s weaknesses.
Whatever the Vikings are doing, it’s not working. Time to try something else.

Kirk isn't going anywhere. There's nothing in the pipeline, especially for a new coaching staff.

Is Kirk to blame for another historically bad D? The two worst two minute defense in the NFL since 2000? Really? This fan base is just something else.

The historically bad defense yesterday gave the offense THREE turn overs. How many points did the offense score from those? Maybe ask JJ what he thinks about the offensive performance yesterday. Also remember the special teams gave up a td. That was after the offensive line fell apart again. Take that away and the offense had 3 “bonus” opportunities to score handed to them by the “historically” bad defense. If the offense was efficient with the turnover opportunities this is a vikings win. We would not be waiting for the two min defense
The defense has been terrible no doubt but yesterday the offense and Cousins were the culprit. The defense for once gave the offense opportunity after opportunity and they sputtered everytime. The Rams even with 3 turnovers ran more total plays than us. Not to mention the meagre 66 rishing yards. Thats how putrid our offense was.
And then there was the terrible red zone int Cousins threw.

You mean the throw Osborn had two hands on?Lol.

Funny thats all you got from my post.
Anyway, yes the pass that Osborn had two hands on.
It was terrible because it was disappointing and deflating to the team after a hard fought methodical drive. The announcers even said that. We really never got going after that till the second half.
Everything is not always about Cousins. I was speaking about the entire offense (Osborn included). So thank you for making my point.Again, yesterdays loss was not on the defence. The offense was simply worse
@"mblack" said:I agree the Red Zone offense needs to score TDs, but lets not leave out ST. That punt return TD was huge in the Rams win. Cook or no Cook, the offense has to win games when the D gives them 3 picks to work with.@"JustinTime18™" said:@"mblack" said:@"JustinTime18™" said:@"StickyBun" said:@"pattersaur" said: Agree with OP. No, I think he meant the long bomb that Osborn lost sight of...oops, different series.

If the Vikings move on from Kirk is it throwing the baby out with the bathwater? Yes maybe.
But I still hope they do. Yes he’s an accuarate passer when given time. He’s darn good. But he’s also slow, doesn’t have great presnap reads/audibles, and is flat out bad at improvising when a play breaks down.
He’s a good QB who is not a fit on this team. Maybe with a new regime that will change but on a Spielman built team with a bad OL and a bad OC, you need a QB who can improv. That’s not Kirk.
JMO. I know many here disagree, which is fine.
Your right pattersaur, he doesn't fit on this team......that is why Zimmer has to go. Like it or nt, with his contract, kirk isn't going anywhere. Zimmer and Kubiac are what is holding back this team. Run, Run, Pass then Punt doen't crack it in this league. The modern day NFL is more like 65-70% passing, and the Vikes are closer to 50%, which makes playing defense against us very predictable.
Zimmer used to be a defensive master, but the game has passd him by. He is too stubborn to adjust, so he is always the frustrated guy in his pressers statig things like "This team is better than this, these players are better than this". What he doesn't realize is that we all agree with him, they are better than their record, so that means a coaching change might be in order.
