Going into the season with Mond @ #2 is just reckless.

If they think this team is ready to win this year, yes. A vet for a one year deal. If not, let Mond be #2. Regardless, we are just at different levels of being fucked if Cousins goes down so its almost moot.

All the off-season moves indicate we're in win now mode, except for one of the most important ones.

#Vikings today expected to put TE Irv Smith & RB Kene Nwangwu on injured reserve so that clears up 2 roster spots, one going to Chris Herndon & one to Everson Griffen They'd need another for Andrew DePaola. Other IR candidates include Christian Darrisaw Dan Chisena Dede Westbrook

I'm guessing the Vikings try to grab a Broncos TE for the practice squad or possibly roster.  There are two cuts from their squad that fit the Vikes scheme and are much more plug and play than all but Herndon and Conklin.  I know the Broncos are trying to keep Beyer stashed on the practice squad, so he'll need a 53 man spot to bring in.  Fort may be able to be had for the practice squad.

Texans waived WR Keke Coutee. 
With one of the NFL's worst receiver groups, the Texans curiously parted ways with Coutee, an electric slot wideout when healthy. Coutee averaged 72 receiving yards per game over Houston's final five games with Will Fuller on suspension. He ended the season with a 90-yard performance against the Titans. Coutee seemed like a lock to make the team's 53-man roster after Houston parted with slot WR Randall Cobb last month. He's going to be hotly pursued by other, more competent NFL teams.

#Vikings kicked around the idea of making the Spicer native a PS offer. But it never got to that point and he wasn’t going to wait. So the Lions it is for Zylstra. Seems like a solid opportunity.

I'm surprised Davidson didn't make the 53 man roster with his athleticism.  I know he's raw as heck as a blocker, but he could be another mismatch on the field.

I am surprised he is not signing for the practice squad.  If I am correct, the Vikes has 4 TE on their roster or injured.  Obviously, Jr. is injured.  The other 3 TEs, I believe, are on the last year of their current contract.  Seems like a great opportunity to learn an offense and graduate to the roster next year.
