The one thing I can tell from this...
Whop Inferior or whatever his name is just dropped a TD. Sheesh. Ugh!
shockingly i can see that if our 2 and 3s were our starters it would be a long year.
@"MaroonBells" said:@"Mattyman" said: this performance doesn't match up with all the warm fluffy articles and reports from Training camp. You're aware the Vikings didn't play a single starter, right? Out of 22 starters, 0 played. However, that team of 2nd and 3rd stringers played against the Broncos starting offense and defense for most of the first half.
I am.The Special teams are what has my attention.
Who pays to attend US Bank to be treated like shit, abused by food vendors, and for the money, gets the right to be told to shut up, it's preseason?

Only 2 Vikings showed up today:
Patrick Jones II and RB Rose.
lackluster and brutal to watch.
Couldnt care less how anyone looked...preseason. Denver played a lot of 1's and we played a lot of guys who shouldnt be on an NFL Roster (Dozier and Samia). I'm going to continue to enjoy my vodka redbull because I know this team has what it takes this year.
Just think of this as what will happens in a game if the Vikes (with all their unvaccinated players) have a COVID outbreak. I think Zim was just preparing for the eventuality.
I really liked both of the rookie DEs, Jones has a non-stop motor and seems like he can contribute and Robinson looks like a freak, he nearly had a pick 6, his arms looks like the stretch guy from the Fantastic Four! Mond didn't get to do much, but he looks quick and can definitely extend the play, pretty decent for not having much practice time. Just makes you think of how much further he would be ahead if he had those extra 10 days and a reminder of how selfish and dumb he is that he is not vaccinated.

Couple other players caught my eye. Some observations....
The bad:
* ISM is nowhere near ready to be WR3. He has to get better at 50/50 balls. His positioning is just bad.
* As bad as Dozier was, Samia was probably worse. Those two should be gone. The ability just isn't there and the upside has evaporated for Samia. Dozier never had any.
* Mond didn't look good in any of his drop backs. Big part of the Vikings offense is play action roll outs (think Lance pass yesterday), but I don't recall seeing him do this once. Made me wonder if they want him to sink or swim in the pocket first.
The good:
* PJII looked good. But then he was probably the highest pedigreed player on the field for the Vikings.
* AJ Rose ran hard. Needs to learn to pass block though. Missed the start of the game, so was confused why Kene wasn't in there. Hope the injury is not serious.
* Davis, Hinton and Cole held up well physically. Mentally they still need time. All three showed enough promise IMO to release Samia and Dozier with confidence.
Colquitt was the only guy I was truly concerned about. Zim said as much as well.
Jones definitely looks like a steal.
Browning was putrid.
Don't need to see another snap from Dozier or Samia. Not in a game, scrimmage, or practice.
I want to see Davidson punt.

Its just kind of a travesty that they charge fans for garbage football like this for those in attendance.

This sums up the bottom 59 guys on our roster yesterday.
I've been saying this for years and I don't want to piss in anyone's cornflakes that enjoy preseason football: its f@#$ing garbage. Good or bad you can't make any judgments on anything. Fans will lose their minds in either direction, crowning players or eviscerating them.
Wake me up in September and no major injuries please.

I'd take 3 items off the McDonalds dollar menu before buying that ticket to preseason football. :p
Without anything better to do on this Saturday night, I have done research and determined that A.J. Rose, with 25 carries for 100 yards, today became the first #Vikings running back to rush for 100 in a preseason game since Joe Banyard had 111 on Aug. 28, 2014 at Tennessee.

I don't put much credibility in pre-season games. I remember one year the Lions won all four of their pre-season games and blew out the other teams. After the regular season, they were deciding who to take with the number one pick in the up-coming draft. Another year, the Patriots got their butts kicked and lost all their pre-season games. After the regular season, they were hoisting the Lombardi trophy.
The pre-season games are about evaluating players and talent, knocking the dust and rust off the starts, deciding who to keep or cut. Don't rely on the wins or loses and the scores.
From PFF:
Cameron Dantzler Disappointment — The fact Dantzler was even playing in this game was a bad sign for the former third-round cornerback who flashed in his debut 2020 season. The Vikings rested almost anybody of consequence, so Dantzler playing suggests he has a lot of work to do to build on an encouraging rookie campaign.
He didn’t do anything to help that by being part of a disastrous coverage play in the Minnesota secondary that saw Drew Lock connect with K.J. Hamler for an 80-yard touchdown. Even if Dantzler was expecting help from the safety, he looked like he was running in sand compared to Hamler's speed.
Asim Rose Was a Bright Spot — There wasn’t much to be encouraged about from the Vikings, who started badly and proceeded to get worse, but Rose — an undrafted rookie — ended up with a major role in the game, gaining 100 rushing yards from 25 carries. Minnesota's offensive line wasn’t good, and 74 of those yards came after contact.
Rose had eight first downs and broke a couple of tackles. He also chipped in as a receiver, catching one of the two passes thrown his way for another 18 yards. With the Vikings resting starters and rookie Kene Nwangwu getting banged up, Rose enjoyed a much bigger opportunity to impress and was one of the few Vikings players to emerge from the game with any credit.
