Amazingly, we’re less than a week away from the Vikings’ first preseason game, a tilt against the Denver Broncos on Saturday that follows two joint practices between the teams later this week. It has already been a busy training camp, with multiple players missing time while on the COVID-19/reserve list, the team’s star wide receiver suffering a sprained AC joint and some changes to the projected starting offensive line. To reset after all that’s happened, our Vikings writers got together for the second installment of their 53-man roster projection. Let’s dive in. QuarterbacksIn: Kirk Cousins, Jake Browning, Kellen Mond Out: Nate Stanley, Danny Etling Contested: None Changes from version 1.0: Browning from contested to in Chad: OK, I relent. Arif was right from the start. We can put to rest our debate about whether the Vikings will keep two or three quarterbacks on the roster this season. It’s going to be three, and Browning is going to be the second-string quarterback. Is his status boosted by the fact that he entered training camp vaccinated and thus didn’t have to miss any practices? Yes, Mike Zimmer acknowledged. It helped. Arif: I don’t have much to add here, aside from gloating on this point — one I lost on last year. In his limited time available for us to watch him actually throw passes, Mond has struggled, and with that on top of this availability issue, it seems like we have a slam-dunk case for three quarterbacks.

Zimmer said Vikings will work on conditioning as camp wraps up this week: "I told the team that the other day. I’m not worried about in the beginning of the game; I’m worried about the fourth quarter. So we’ve got to get in a lot better shape."

It's worth noting that Kene Nwangwu and Ihmir Smith-Marsette have been obviously fast in a way that a lot of players with fast 40s don't always appear in camp

#Vikings FB C.J. Ham says rookie RB Kene Nwangwu's 94 speed rating on Madden (below only Raheem Mostert) is a topic in RB room: "That's what I keep hearing." Says its "definitely not" Kene bringing that up. Perhaps it's lead man Dalvin Cook, who isn't in top 10 of speed ratings.Show this thread

Jake Browning taking warmup snaps from Bradbury instead of Cole today. Something you’d definitely do with a guy you knew would be QB2

is this still a mystery for some?  wasnt it a given when we didnt sign a veteran back up that Browning was going to be the man this year behind Cousins?

Interesting about ISM. I sorta thought he was a lock to make the team. 


Probably just Zimmer lighting a fire. He was a 5th rounder so he'll get every opportunity to make the team. A 5th rounder would have a hard time getting through waivers for the PS.

Some interesting onside kick attempts by Greg Joseph to start practice. Carries it almost to the sideline and the outside guy plays the quick-hop

But guys like Westbrook (knee) and Darrisaw (groin) very much remain limited. Westbrook rehabbing on side field during WR drills.

Newly-signed WR Warren Jackson is having a great start to his #Vikings career. Hauled in a great catch earlier in individual drills and now just juked his way open for a TD in 1-on-1’s
