Dennison out as O-Line coach
Breaking: Rick Dennison is out as Vikings offensive line coach/run game coordinator after refusing the COVID-19 vaccine. MIN will promote assistant OL coach Phil Rauscher to replace Dennison, hired Auburn special teams analyst Ben Steele as an assistant. https://t.co/3oOgXHsaMr

5 days before TC?

Because now is when the vaccine policy came out?
@"MaroonBells" said:My guess is Dennison threatened to sue and the Vikes are lining up their ducks to defend such a claim. Look, it was reported the Vikes elevated one coach and hired a new coach -- that is not really just a message.@"StickyBun" said: Looks like Dennison wasn't fired, the team and he are in 'discussions'. So maybe a little premature sports media. Even better. Send the message without sacrificing the coach. Now, we'll see if he comes around. Betcha a dollar and a donut that the the "fired" report was leaked intentionally. My guess is: (1) Dennison applied for a waiver (probably for religious grounds). (2) The NFL denied the waiver. (3) Vikes told Dennison he was out unless he gets vaccinated so he can actually coach. (4) Dennison hired an attorney and appealed the denial of his waiver and wanted the Vikings to pay out the rest of his contract. (5) The Vikes backtracked and are waiting to see whether Dennison has even a right to appeal the denial of his waiver or for the denial of his appeal. The safest avenue for the Vikes is for this to procedurally play out under whatever rules the NFL implemented and then fire Dennison. It puts them in the best position not to pay Dennison.
The vaccine really works! It cured the Vikings of Rick Dennison and there's now a high chance of the Dozier infection going away too.
Vaccine issue aside for a moment...
Who here really believes Dennison is the best resource to get the very most out of a young line with a lot of recent, high draft capital on it???

Great question. One the one hand, he's taken his lumps the last couple of years for mediocre line play, but how much of that is attributable to the talent level? On the other hand, he's had success in the past with this offensive scheme, so wouldn't he be a good resource for all the young guys we have?

Spelly and Zim. But fate and Dennison's knuckleheadedness intervened. It's enough of a miracle break--forcing a good decision onto those two twits--to make me think maybe it's finally our turn. Plus if the conspiracists are to be believed, the NFL wants to play the black national anthem at a Super Bowl featuring the team from George Floyd's home town. It may be written in the stars...... Nah!

I don't think it's black and white. Dennison clearly knows and teaches the Kubiak/Shanahan outside zone very well. But I question his ability to develop players.
Does any of us know for a fact that Dennison does not have an underlying medical condition that would make it dangerous to take the vaccine?

He applied for an exemption and was denied by the NFL. Don't know whether it was religious or medical exemption he sought.

Yes, this definitely sends a strong message. Don't jeopardize the TEAM.
Politics aside, medical condition aside, any other variable aside, I want an OL coach who can be in the room and on the field. The OL is arguably the biggest X Factor for this team so the Vikes need to do what they can to have a coach in the room and on the field.

I don't think its what it means. I think it means he's not vaccinated, will be working away from the team and he's got a new position with the team. They accommodated him for continuity sake. This will most likely be his last season with the team if he doesn't get vaccinated. In explaining why Rick Dennison remains with the Vikings, Mike Zimmer noted his 40 years of coaching experience and said he felt that “it was important we use him as a resource but also give him a chance to work.”

He’s now a “senior offensive adviser” per Tom Pelissero… so no Tier 1 clearance
