Ravens preparing to trade Orlando Brown Jr.
Sounds like the Ravens are preparing for the almost certain trade of Brown Jr. sometime during the draft. I think the odds of them trading him during the draft are about 90%. The odds they trade with the Vikings considerably lower. But we'll see...
A piece of interesting free agent news: #Steelers FA OT Alejandro Villanueva is set to visit the #Ravens this week, league source said. With some moving parts on Baltimore’s O-line, they plan to check out Villanueva in person.

I would think if it's going to happen with the Vikings, it will be before the draft. I'd think they will know if his compensation will fit with their plans or not now or soon.
Not sure I see this as a trade that happens @ 14???

they have already had the contract talks, i think they dont like what they are hearing, but would likely still be open to it if the draft doesnt give them what they are looking for. IE: if they dont like the later OT prospects and one of the ones they like isnt there at 14 they pull that trigger and make the move with the ravens and then worry about getting him extended and under the cap with something that is already agreed upon.

I tend to think if they do trade for OBJ it will after they find out what's available at 14. If Sewell or maybe a couple others fall to them, they will go with the rookie pricetag. In fact, I think a blue chip rookie is plan A.

Then by the time the rookie needs a deal Cousins will basically be done.

I think the contract stuff would have to have already been worked out. Also the trade compensation.
Teams will likely pull the trigger or not based on who's available when they pick. I don't think the Vikings would pull the trigger on a trade before they know who might be available at 14. If Sewell or Slater are there, I would imagine they'd just stay and pick. Darrisaw and below might prompt the trade. But we know nothing. It's possible the Vikings are out based on the contract Brown is demanding. As Geoff has mentioned, Vikings would probably feel better about paying him the moon if he were a better scheme fit.
I may be in the minority here, but I dont think trading for him is the right move for the Vikes. While he's a good player, he's basically a rental for us with what he wants for his contract. It would certainly improve our OL, but the numbers don't work

The numbers can always be worked out, especially when you consider that Barr's money will be off the books next year and a decision will have to be made on Cousins. Either he goes or he's extended. Either one brings more cap space. A cap that will be skyrocketing soon.
Also, we're talking about a 24 year old franchise LT. A left tackle you could feasibly have for the next ten years. That's the kind of player you spend big money on and don't feel bad about it. The biggest question for me is his fit in a wide zone.

@"Vikergirl" said:but the teams in the war have to be willing to not only pay for him... but they have to willing to pay for his rights. if he was a FA, yes there would be more teams in on him, but when you factor in what you have to give up to get him that possibly cuts the suitors down some. just as there are some that would be willing to aquire his rights, but wouldnt be willing or able to cover his contract demands.@"Hawkvike25" said: I may be in the minority here, but I dont think trading for him is the right move for the Vikes. Can he help neutralize Mack? Z'Darius? Help with monster DT's from Chicago? Still be an All Pro in a wide Zone?
If the answer is yes...

if you are hoping for inside help from your LT... I think we are already screwed.... or more to the point, Cousins is already screwed.

Me too.How do they have enough cap to pay Oneil and OBJ?
Maybe instead of worrying about the scheme fit, how about using a scheme that is a fit for the talent? Zeus would be the most talented guy we've popped on to the OL since Hutch.
My guess is if Sewell isn't obtainable, and Darrisaw is gone, you swing the trade. Run more power, which we did with Cleveland in the lineup last year.
The cap can be massaged to fit Zeus and O'Neill, and the T slot is set for the next half decade.

The draft is the team's last chance to bolster its receiver group after largely striking out in free agency, coming away with an unreliable Sammy Watkins. Baltimore has the 27th pick in the draft. "We'll find certain wide receivers in the draft that fit us. We know who they are," Harbaugh said in a Monday presser. "We've had the meetings. And we'll try and get them." Ravens director of player personnel Joe Horitz on Monday named LSU's Terrace Marshall and Minnesota's Rashod Bateman as two wideouts the team might prioritize in the draft. "Both talented guys who have some versatility. A little different in what they do best, but certainly two guys who we have our eye on," Horitz said. For fantasy purposes, landing in Baltimore's run-first offense wouldn't be ideal for Bateman or Marshall, though both have potential to emerge as the Ravens' No. 1 receiver. NBC Sports Edge's John Daigle projects Bateman going to Green Bay with the 29th pick. RELATED: Good chance at #14 you land a Top 3 WR...just saying Johnny...

• The problem with Baltimore tackle Orlando Brown, who wants to be traded to a team who would play him at left tackle, may not be Baltimore agreeing on a fair trade. Although Brown has offered to play this season on the last year of his rookie deal ($3.38 million), he would soon need a new deal, and figuring that out in a time of such cap uncertainty could be a problem.
