NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Ravens OT Orlando Brown has requested a trade. This builds off reports last month that Brown only wants to play left tackle. That's unlikely to happen in Baltimore with Ronnie Stanley (ankle) expected back by training camp. It's hard to see the Ravens moving on from Brown with upgrading their line a top priority this offseason. Brown is entering the final year of his rookie contract. The Ravens hold all the leverage.

Short answer: no Long answer: aw, fuck no.

Thielen is on a team friendly deal and is still in his prime.

AT + JJ is a damn good combo...Its the #3 and depth that's kinda worrisome.

Neither T spot was the lead contributing factor to the overall line problem. Swapping deck chairs, and gaining a marginal amount of cap space is well and good, but the problem is and continues to be the interior G positions. I don't see the addition of Brown addressing the actual issue of Cousins having someone in his chest 1.3 sec. after taking a snap.

True, but a lot of people have twisted the Brown scenario into, "Get Brown AND keep Reiff, move Reiff to LG." The plan Geoff proposed was to waive Reiff to reduce cap hit (at least in 2021) and have a LT who is younger and better.

Maybe Reiff can play LG (he last did for part of the Hawkeyes' 2009 season), but I'm more doubtful he wants to and wants to take a big pay cut to do so.

#Ravens OT Orlando Brown Jr. speaks about his trade request, says it's part of his father's wish for him:

"It's a lot more emotional or spiritual for me, I guess you could say, playing left tackle."

Purple for a better purple.

14 and 3rd for Zeus Jr and the Ravens 25th.
Is this possible?
Can we add Lane Taylor for a cheap vet deal?
Could we still have money to grab Geno ba beno to be the UT we have needed since Floyd left?
If one of the edge rushers is left at 25, should we take him?

and lastly

How would you feel if we had an:
OL of Zeus-Taylor-Bradburry-Cleveland-ONeil
DL of Hunter-Atkins-Pierce-1st Round DE

I would feel like a contender with these trenches

Brown is young and proven, so I get the appeal. But he's a big dude. He weighs 50 lbs more than Rieff.

Talent is talent but aren't the Vikings kind of all-in on the smaller, athletic lineman? What happened to that?
Not to mention his cost in money and draft capital versus what say OT3 in the draft would be. For me doing this deal is a tough call. Especially if there really are "5 other teams" interested. $$$
EDIT- All that said if the Vikings make this deal I'd probably be super excited to lock in our LT.

Call it a little birdy but I think they're not 100% committed to finding lineman that are exact fits for stretch zone. They're going to transition to more of a "find the best lineman" approach.

Ok, don't screw with me on this. I thought maybe when they ran more power with Ezra in the lineup, they might be open to OLinemen with more lead in their pants, so to speak.

Rumors going around that Anthony Barr could be involved in the trade talks for Brown. Guru, have anything on this?

They may trade Barr. I would expect something to happen whether it be a bonus restructure, new contract, or trade. Can't say I have real-time updates but there is a lot to unpack on that one. If they do move Barr I expect them to bring Eric Wilson back. So one of the two will be here.

I would think the Ravens would keep Judon over trading for Barr.

That's what I've been saying so I hope you're right about that. Vikings don't need to move away from athletic profiles, but don't be so set on the UBER athletes. I compare it to QBs with strong arms. Your offense might require a QB who can throw deep, but once you have a QB who can make all the throws, don't rate a guy who can throw it a mile over someone who might be more complete.

I could see that. Vikings may end up trading Barr anyway, so it might make some sense to put him in this deal. I like Skodin's idea of 14 and a 3rd for the Raven's 25th (but that 25th pick have to be their 58th). Either way, they can probably include Barr and make the trade a little less painless. And that gives us a jackton of cap space. Probably shouldn't be paying a 4-3 LB that much anyway.

Maybe the Vikings are re-thinking roster construction? When I heard Zimmer say last year that paying two safeties top dollar doesn't make cap sense, I almost stood up and cheered. Could be some serious roster adjustments going on. Putting big money where big money belongs (QB, OT, DL, CB) and putting small money where small money belongs (G, C, TE, 43LB, S). Just a thought.
