Reboot this shit show
Totally agree, 2nd half looked just like the first two debacles.
Sad but true. It was nice to see Jefferson do well. The OL is same old same old. Cousins is Cousins and the defense is still sad.
Owner made a huge mistake (I tried to tell him but he never listens, lol) doubling down on Rick/Zim, who then compounded that with the awful Cousins extension and a series of win-now moves that are just part of the overall failure.
Youve said it a few times now MO, and you are def getting closer to being right. This D is not going to stop anyone until perhaps Hunter comes back.
Our O did great until we took JJ Out for Ham, why? we also made critical penalties, and allowed critical pressures again by our interior line. We also were more conservative on D in the 2nd half and rately showed multille bkitz looks.
We also made critical mistakes going for 2 way to early in the game and missing a field goal after a critical penalty on out backup LT.
KC is a good not great QB. He cannot put the game on his back.
Z is a good but not great coach. He is good with players and a proven winner, but he hasnt shown he can take an opportune risk. When we had the missed field goal, it wouldve been a great time to try a fake, decent field position, 2 penalties in a row, tendencies
Spielman is a good but not great GM.
This team will be competitive with Hunter back and will always be competitive under Z and Speilly, Im just not sure we will ever go all the way with Z and Spielman. So if that makes it time to move on, so be it I guess.
I think you’d better pin this @"Mike Olson" cause it’s gonna be a while, likely this season & next at least, imo...
competitive hasn't been good enough for me for years
0/3? First time for this franchise since 2013. And that was a REALLY BAD YEAR.
Vikes have some nice pieces, but not enough in the trenches, where it counts most.
It truly is time to blow-it-up and grab one of those nice, franchise ceiling QB's. Finishing with 5 or 6 wins is purgatory. F that.
The problem is weak up the middle on both sides of the ball. A talent infusion is needed so bad there. Kirk is Kirk. I just hope they get a chance at one of the top 3 QBs in April.
I agree. Cousins keeps hitting his head on his ceiling of mediocrity. He has once again great stats yet cannot close because he is not a leader or an improvisor. How in the world do you not target JJ hardly at all in the first two games when his talent is oozing out if every pore?
I honestly am not mad about the loss it means a better draft pick for a QB with a Superbowl ceiling that has actual leadership skills. my nightmare is if the team rallies and hits 8-8 or 7-9 just outside the striking range for one of the top QBs in the draft.
I watched the Redzone Channel yesterday and here's the problem: there are some truly HORRIBLE teams in the NFL, maybe 5 that are worse than Minnesota. Its early, but many draft projections have all 3 QBs gone by the #5 pick. Just say the Vikings pick #7: they'll miss the QBs and the best OL in the last probably 5-7 years. The drop-off for the QBs after the top 3 is tremendous. The freaking Jets, who just got Sam Darnold a few years ago, are going to pick a QB.
I'm getting this feeling that the team is stepping into possibly a big window of bad teams and/or at best, mediocrity.
Yeah, hate to be an ironic buzzkill for everyone, but the Titans were in the AFC championship game last year. They're undefeated this year. Vikings should've beaten them and almost did, on the backs of their emerging rookie WR and one of the NFL's best backs.
And that's what sucks about it. We're not good enough to win consistently, but we're good enough to beat several teams on our schedule. It will be very hard for this team to battle back and compete for a playoff spot but even harder to see this team losing enough to land one of the top three QBs without an intentional tank.
MB is right. We barely lost to a playoff team that's undefeated this year. Our known problems are still there, but the Vikings looked far more like a football team and less like a collection of depressed, confused millionaires than they did in the first two games.

I want the collection of millionaires to tank for Trevor!!!! Unfortunately yesterday made me think they're just good enough to get out of any QB drafting position.

I was talking to a buddy about Darnold this weekend. Say we do miss out on Lawrence, Fields, and Lance. Should we try to get Darnold? He's a good quarterback who was zero help on offense...and Gase is an awful coach. Acquiring him and then addressing the OL with the first round pick would be nice. I'm still in favor of trading one of our veterans and a later pick to achieve the currently vacant 2nd round pick to snag another DT.
What we saw yesterday was the better, gifted players playing well and everybody geared-up and focused early in the the game and early in the season. It was the best effort they could make.
We saw pride and determination in play and not bad game-planning. Then slapstick comedy and the many weak links surfaced (again).
Sorry to buzz-kill the buzz-kill going on, but that "can do" attitude wont last with losing. It never does. I say with conviction it wont be there after @ Seattle, @ Texans and @ GB after the bye. Some of those losses are going to be fugly too.
This team may have 1 win by then, a big maybe.
The mental, emotional and physical resiliency will be worn thin by then. I dont care that they're pro's, the mental and physical drudgery of 1 win after the GB game will take its toll.
Unlike many, I have faith in the team make-up, coaching and game-planning to get a top 3 pick.
So screw you all...
Agreed with most. The Jets will (wisely) keep Adam Gase until the end of the year, thus ensuring they win 2 games or less. They are a disaster that will be rewarded with a new coach and Trevor Lawrence. Yippee.
The Vikings look good enough to win 5 or 6 games and unfortunately, for teams who need QBs and are drafting early, there’s almost no price they will accept in a trade in order for us to move up.
Best case scenario for MIN is a team like the Bengals or Texans gets a top 3 pick and is willing to move it. The price will be astronomical because they’ll be passing on Sewell, but that’s our only shot at a top QB I think. I personally would be fine with just about any price paid if it means we get a cost controlled QB with a big arm and quick feet for the next few seasons.

About half are busts. And by my count 6 have been to the Super Bowl.
I’d take those numbers all day over a list of the 34 most recent Vikings QBs.
After you watch guys like Russell Wilson, Mahomes, Watson, Murray and see the mobility and the nightmare that it is to defend these guys. the absolute ability to shift move and make up for the flaws in an offensive line it is hard to watch Cousins sit back there and just hold onto the ball forever. This teamnis 0-3 literally any Qb in the league could get us this record.

Yep, that's exactly right. The odds are definitely against getting a good one, no matter where you pick. People forget this, but even Mahomes had a lot of questions around him. He was considered a risky, boom or bust player with a lot of scouts siding more on the bust side.
I will say this, though. The three top QBs in '21 all look to be very good prospects and all three are modern style QBs. Plus, either college is getting better at preparing QBs, or the NFL is getting better at identifying them....considering the early success of Burrow, Murray, Allen, Mahomes, Jackson, Watson, etc. It's not a lot better, but it does seem to be a little better than the days of Bortles, Manziel, Locker, Gabbert, Ponder, etc.
