Soooo good to get the 1st one out of the way.
I know, Houston's pretty bad, but this is what I envisioned the offense to look like this year. The defense played much better as well, asides from a couple slip-ups.
- I thought Kubiak called a great game. Leaned on the run, lead to great passing situations. Had Cousins run a play outside on 3rd down that I thought was a great call.
- OLine played well for the most part, including Samia and Dozier (at least compared to what they've been doing up to this point).
- Thielen and Jefferson are fun to watch.
- Jefferson reminds me of Antonie Brown, minus the batshit craziness.
- Cook, that's why you paid the man.
- Need to get Irv more involved, and that could really make the offense explosive.
- I like Kirk, but every game he has a couple plays where you sit there and just scream at the TV, whether it's waiting too long in the pocket or just a dumb decision throwing the ball.
- Defense played well for the most part. Pass rush was good. Ngakoue was a good pickup. I hope we can keep him after the season, as he and Hunter would be monstrous.
- Wonnum looks like he could end up being the next Patterson project that pays dividends.
- Young corners showed improvement. Still need some seasoning, but Gladney & Dantzler showed well, as did Hill.
- Loss of Harry was big, hope he doesn't miss a game next week.
- Kendricks doing Kendricks things. Best MLB in the game.

It was enjoyable but it was a shit opponent. If they win against teams with winning records, that's a different story. I feel bad for Deshaun Watson. Jefferson is so much fun to watch. Dalvin had a good game too.

Definitely nice to get a win. But I think Houston will end up with a losing record this year, and Zimmer always gets wins against bad teams. I got a 6-10 feeling about them after the first 3 games and today didn't change that. So they won't be one of the very worst 2-3 teams in the NFL this year - just bottom 10.
I have no problem with people wanting the team to lose for a player. It is stupid in my opinion but fine if people have those opinions. just please don’t bring them into gameday chat. For the record I know that isn’t what was being done by anyone here on this thread ao far.

I agree, 6-7 wins still seems like the ceiling for this team this year. Tough to overcome the injuries and some glaring weaknesses. But I'll be happy if they can pay hard the rest of the year and the young players show improvement.
Bill O'Brien called a horrible game. Still can't get over him getting rid of Deandre Hopkins.
That light has turned on for JJ, and it’s already pretty bright.
He is getting open and making tough contested catches.

The Texans are a trainwreck and we barely beat them. trust me I love the win and am always cheering for a score. But I just hope we dont scratch out 7 wins and as a result all the QB prospects and good Oline guys are gone, then we pick a Corner in the first round.

I see 3 wins the rest of the season. 4/12. The only joy I'd get out of that is the potential to draft a needed impact player.

That 2nd Cook TD run was elite. This is why you pay that guy. Strength, speed and balance were all on display. He gets around that edge so quick and then the stiff arm. You just won't see many other RBs do what he did on that run. I couldn't believe he got that in the end zone.
I really like Wonnum. He might have worked his way into main backup DE.

The sooner we realize that, the better off we'll be. Emotionally.
And, no, the Texans are not a train wreck. They won the AFC South last year ...and the year before. They lost very competitive games this year against the Chiefs, the Ravens and the Steelers. Anyone else have a tougher opening 3? Except maybe the Vikings? No, the Texans may not be one of the elite teams again this year, but they are far from a train wreck.
And last week the Vikings lost by ONE point to a truly elite team, a team that that was in the AFC Championship last year. Just sayin...
I know we all have visions of Sunshine in our heads, so do I. And I'd even be willing to boot a season to get him. But I'm afraid this year's Vikings are not going to cooperate. They're just too much talent on the team, especially on the offense. And they're going to get better.

- It was nice to win and stop the bleeding. I still want to see them win every week and I'm more concerned about player development than tanking. I like that Jefferson has emerged as a strong number 2 receiver. Dantzler and Gladney seem to be developing well as young corners, Wonnum is looking like a nice backup, and the backup linebackers (Wilson, Nickerson, & Davis) have done well. The defense is starting to play more disciplined, but still far from what we are accustomed to seeing.
- I thought that Smith being ejected was BS and it was clearly a big drop off from him to Iloka. Iloka did try and he even made a big tackle towards the end of the game, but he's not Smith or even Sendejo. Safety depth should have really been a bigger focus last off-season.
- Ngakoue has been a very nice pick up and he's starting to have bigger impact on games.
- I'm not sure what's going on with Irv Smith. He supposedly had as strong training camp, but has been pretty invisible during the season. Not sure if line issues are forcing him to block more, if Cousins doesn't trust him, or if it's just a fluke. With Thielen and Jefferson playing well, I'd really like to see guys like Rudolph, Smith, and Johnson take advantage of the matchups.
- Cook is really running well and he does an excellent job of turning what should be losses into positive yards, especially with his yards after contact.
- The Vikings did a good job of keeping the offense on the field and ran a lot of plays compared to the first few games. That took a lot of pressure off of the D early.

You are right, just trying to a little light in a very dark season I guess.
Dalvin Cook is a beast! I wasn't really in favor of paying him big money for a number of reasons, but that's in the past. There's no doubt he's a difference maker on the field.
He was breaking tackles and getting extra yards, including key first downs, literally all day long. He put the team on his back today.
JJ-- Awesome. Thielen-- Awesome. Kirk-- Solid. OL-- Solid. Defense-- Much better than last week.
Good job to the coaches and players for getting it done after a shortened week of practices.
(And yeah the Texans stink. Watson holds the ball forevvvvvvver and their coaching staff does him zero favors.)
