Reiff approached about pay cut
Saw it on Twitter. Looks like he's not at the facility either.
Hearing the Vikings have gone to LT Riley Reiff about re-structuring his contract. If he’s not willing, they may cut him to save more than $8M in cap space.

The lynchpin to it all: a 6th round bad ass from Elon named Oli Udoh. If this mofo ends up starting at RT this year and doing well, you may as well just crown Spielman right f-ing now.
If that were to play out this way, and say O'Neill transitions seamlessly and Udo holds his own, Cleveland may end up being the LG of the future. Imagine him and O'Neill holding down the blindside.
Update: just read that the reason Reiff was out yesterday is because the Vikings gave him a day to think over the restructure request and if he doesn't agree, they'll cut him. So we should know by end of the day.
Very interesting, Vikings must still want him back if they offered to restructure. If they felt they had a clear replacement, likely would have just cut him or not... IF cut, it is still early enough to catch on with another team prior to the season or teams may wait until after first game so his salary is not guaranteed (I think that is right about the guarantee, anyone know for sure?).

I think they know they need to make room for both Ngakuoe AND Cook so they'd probably prefer to keep Reiff because its already September basically but they'll pull the trigger and cut him if necessary.
I am very high on Udoh. His preseason (yeah yeah I know PS) tape was outstanding.
O’Neill has been a pleasant surprise, but is he stout enough to hold the point of attack at LT?
Honestly I am more concerned with O’Neill at LT than I am Udoh at RT.
Ezra is the forgotten man here, hard to say how far along he is without any preseason action.

Doesn't sound like Reiff is in the building again today per Wolfson. Wolfson is acting like he was given today to think about it, I would guess yesterday was the day to think about it and an answer has been made. Looks like O'neill at LT and Udoh at RT for the year. If Udoh pans out that will be very good for the vikings. To me, it looks like the vikings are looking to try to do well this year, but 2021 looks to be another good opportunity for them. DL looks stacked. OL is looking drastically improved, still will need to find a guard or two. Defense should be top 5, Offense potential top 10.

I think he'll tell Minnesota to take a hike.
Update: looks like Reiff was in the building this morning, but won't be at 2 pm practice today. Now they are saying the deadline to respond is TOMORROW, not today. Might not know until tomorrow.

It could also be that Yannick's money forced the team to approach Reiff. And it could also be that Udoh is looking so good, it prompted them to re-think O'Neill on the left. And if that's the case, I think they low-ball Reiff knowing he won't take it, release him and move on with O'Neill and Udoh as our tackles.
Honestly, I'm kinda rooting for that. That line in '21 has a lot of potential...

Very interesting, but most of us (and others) did think that OG was the team's biggest OL need, and I remember being surprised they picked an OT. But I don't remember if there were any "pure" guards still on the board when Cleveland was picked.
Posted on another thread - Vikings will have to pay O'Neill like a franchise LT, probably in 2021, so they may as well put him at LT now.
Probably the best for both the Vikings and Reiff is to go ahead and release him...this gives him time to latch onto another team and free up some much needed cash...Hell, the way this season is starting, might as well throw the young guys into the mix and see what they can do.

To me we went with Yannick with the remaining dollars available and plan to move forward signing him after this season. I honestly think this is the best plan. You generally need at least $5 million to go into a season with. Could see a guard deal pop up yet. Essentially this is what the deal is:
