Thanks for the clips BN! This Van Jefferson is intriguing to say the least. Lots of wiggle, can get deep. Inside and Outside. Me likey!

He's very Diggs-like in the way he gets separation on his routes and how he runs after the catch.  There were a couple times where he used his body to shield the CB and waited until the last minute to extend his hands for an over-the-the shoulder catch that brought back memories of #14...

Diggs struggled with this at first too. Adam also, IIRC. They both killed out of the Slot and grew as Outside Receivers, which is really all you can ask and is part of the reason so few Rookies get a 1,000 yards.

I like this kid. Think he'd be a good piece to add.

Day 1 you get a core special teamer, a guy who can tag doll CBs in the running game, very good hands, and can separate enough. He'd be a good complement to Thielen.

It'd be nice to get a guy like him, then double up with a guy who can take the top off the defense. Would go a long way to improving the receiving corps.

@"BarrNone55" said: PROS: Wonderful body control, balance ball skills, hands and adjustments. Has a natural feel for tracking the football and he catches everything. Makes acrobatic catches look easy in addition to handling the routine stuff. Does well to find space in zone coverage to make himself available. A true technician as a route runner and he’s fairly refined. Forces his share of false steps from corners and he has some deception to him. Long and tall with a massive catch radius and he does well to extend it vertically. Outstanding skills along the sideline. The most natural hands in the class.
My only concern with Hodgins is his lack of speed. He clearly runs routes well, and uses that skill to create separation, but I think he will struggle at the next level where that will be a liability just like it was with Treadwell. He also has a weak upper body and struggles in press coverage. I think Corners will not give him any room to operate because they won't fear his speed to burn them deep.

Florida WR @VanJefferson12 couldn’t run the 40 at Combine (foot injury) but @ZebraTechnology had him as fastest player at the @seniorbowl with max speed of 21.05 mph, which is faster than Devin Duvernay (20.90/4.39), Denzel Mims (20.26/4.38), and Antonio Gibson (20.15/4.39).

Love him. Son of a 12-year NFL WR coach, successful at Ole Miss and Florida, great hands and releases. Not saying he’ll turn into him, but his game reminds me of Keenan Allen.

I've heard a lot of good things about Coulter.

TYLER JOHNSON, WR, MINNESOTA: NO. 38I watched Tyler Johnson's film and gave him a second-round grade. I think he has strong hands and great athleticism for the slot. He has flashes of quality route-running that just need to be pruned from the weeds of some ill-advised, multi-step releases and stems that take too much time and offer too little separation. He is a WR2 or WR3 in the mold of Mohamed Sanu or Robert Woods.
But it is impossible to ignore how Johnson has handled the pre-draft process. He did not make the Senior Bowl, elected to pass over the Shrine Bowl and delayed his testing at the combine and his pro day was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There is nothing to stand on beside his tape.
Even for a player with a second-round grade, no other background information scares me. His character concerns are essentially media leaks from area scouts. The simple reality is that of Kelvin Harmon last year: I may like him a lot but if a team doesn't draft him until Day 3, it's an uphill battle to even get the snaps necessary to show off the traits I believe he has. Harmon played well last year but is still a depth option for the Washington Redskins as he earns the trust and targets of a second- or third-round pick. The future will likely be much the same for Johnson.
